Favorite/Least Favorite AM Radio Talk Show Hosts

I like almost everyone except for Savage and Hannity. One is Too UGH and the other Too EWW!

Savage can be an #ss but he has struck me as someone who is interested in getting to the heart of the matter. I rarely get to hear his entire program though so I cannot be certain.

To be brutally honest I am sick of conservative and liberal radio mainly because they are no longer interested in talking about solutions or giving out the straight news. They seem to instead concentrate on discussing positions that will never be achieved then complaining when no one does what they say 'should' be done.

It has become a choice of listen to conservative radio and be exposed to conservative guests espousing conservative ideals OR listen to liberal radio with liberal guests interpreting everything through a liberal focus. Never talking to each other or working together is just propagating the problems instead of seeking solutions.

Politics is the art of compromise for good or ill. We shall see what the democrats will do in control of two of the three branches of government. For my part I shall continue to keep my family debt minimized, work hard at my job, try to diet and exercise for my health and remain grounded in my faith through good works and my religion.

Nothing the Federal government can or ever has done will affect those things. I will give unto Caesar whatever is his due. If I have my house in order then I can survive, even thrive.

I am to the point where I only care to listen to Coast to Coast am. I miss Art Bell though.

I like listening to Rush and I like Glen Beck... Wish I still had XM, I loved listening to Coast to Coast (recorded it then listened to it the next day).

Been thinking with all these megabytes on my cellphone and windows mobile player, may start listening to pre-recorded podcasts for a change...

I do like the local AM talk show and OHHHH yeah, love Paul Harvey:)

Paul Harvey? Is that old fossil still around? I used to listen to him when I was a kid. And that was not last week.

Rush....oh my, what a blowheart. He can make my skin crawl when he goes off the deep end, something he enjoys I suspect. He is to intelligent to not realize he is throwing tantrums. Just my $0.02.

Glenn Beck is great listening, but the local station 960 AM in Dallas, NC dropped him when they switched from mostly political talk to an all-Christian format.

Neal Boortz is great when I can pick him up either late at night from his home station of WSB 750 AM Atlanta or on WSB's Web Site http://wsbradio.com Boortz is called "The Talkmaster" with great reason. He's been in the business for decades, he knows his stuff, and he pulls no punches with anybody.

I like Keith Larson of 1110 AM WBT in Charlotte, NC. Since he's on in the morning, his shows don't broadcast "From Canada to Cuba" like WBT does at night, but his shows are accessable on the Podcast 24/7 worldwide from http://www.wbt.com

Michael Savage is, as Boortz characterized him, "a bright, well-read, but profoundly disturbed man." Savage gets utterly crazed on some issues, which, although it makes for exciting radio, would be insufferable to see in person and especially to live with.

Rush and Hannity are both GOP partisan hacks and I stopped listening when I could guess their stance on an issue within 15 minutes of listening. Predictability never makes for good listening.

I do, however, always listen when free-market economist Walter E. Williams substitutes for Rush. Good ol' Walter E. Williams presents the case for individual rights, free-market economics, and limited government in a way that is both educational and entertaining. Williams really needs his own show because he is that good.

Paul Harvey is great listening whenever I can pick him up on some obscure Country station while riding on a long road trip. I also liked him when he did TV commentary on ABC's Good Morning America.

Unfortunately, though, Harvey was compromised when the Council of American Islamic Relations got a hold of him and made him say "Uncle" after he stated an inconvenient truth about Islam.

The Paul Harvey/CAIR affair, along with Alan Berg's fate in the Eighties, are reason enough for talk-show hosts to pack heat to their jobs every single day. That pistol could be all that stands between free minds and a New Dark Ages.
