Raleigh, N.C. — Officials arrested seven residents of North Carolina Monday on charges they supported terrorism by recruiting people to fight overseas.

Daniel Patrick Boyd, 39, Hysen Sherifi, 24, Anes Subasic, 33, Zakariya Boyd, 20, Dylan Boyd, 22, Mohammad Omar Aly Hassan, 22, and Ziyad Yaghi, 21, have been charged with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and conspiring to murder, kidnap and injure persons abroad, the assistant attorney general for the National Security Division announced Monday.

All of the defendants are U.S. citizens, except Sherifi, who is U.S. legal permanent resident. The men were living in North Carolina, according to the indictment.

Daniel Boyd, Sherifi and Zakariya Boyd are also each charged with possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Daniel Boyd and Dylan Boyd face an additional charge of selling a firearm to a convicted felon, according to the indictment.

Daniel Boyd is also charged with receiving a firearm through interstate commerce and two counts of making false statements in a terrorism investigation.

A federal grand returned a sealed seven-count indictment against the defendants Wednesday.

The defendants were arrested at various locations Monday morning by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies.

They made their initial appearances Monday in federal court in Raleigh. At that time, the indictment was unsealed.

“The indictment alleges that Daniel Boyd is a veteran of terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan who, over the past three years, has conspired with others in this country to recruit and help young men travel overseas in order to kill," David Kris, assistant attorney general for the National Security Division, said in a statement.

"Given the weapons allegedly involved in this conspiracy and the seriousness of the charges, the many agents, analysts and prosecutors who were able to bring about this case and safely remove these defendants from our streets deserve special thanks."

If they assisted people "going overseas to kill", WHO were they going to kill?

If American men, charge them with treason and hang the bastards. In public.

Does this give you an Idea; "Obama plans Raleigh town hall meeting Tuesday 28 July."

Obama plans Raleigh town hall meeting Tuesday
      From Staff Reports

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will visit Raleigh on Tuesday to talk about the economy at a town hall meeting at the State Fairgrounds.

It will be Obama's ninth visit to the state as a presidential candidate and the first since June 9, according to his campaign. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Tickets will be available at Obama's campaign offices in Raleigh at 130 E. Morgan Street and in Cary at 215 E. Chatham Street beginning at 5 p.m. Monday. There is a limit of two tickets per adult and one for people under 16, according to the campaign.

Just remember, when you read stories like this...

        As I've said before...

I was a news addict for most of my life. Put a newspaper in front of me, and I would read all of the news sections front to back. Or watch CNN for hours.

I spent a long time in the Army/Guard and seven years in city law enforcement before I got my current job in federal LE.

I thought I had seen it all and knew it all...how blissfully naive I was!

By the end of my first week of training, I kicked my news addiction and have never gone back. Why? While I can not cite specific examples, I can tell you that I learned that 99% of what the mainstream media shows is either a complete and total fabrication, or is just one tiny sliver of a detail that ignores the whole rest of the story. I take mainstream media about as seriously as I take a circus clown, because that's all it is, mindless entertainment for the masses.

I am sure some of you know firsthand, as I do.
