  • Bureaucrats Will Carry Out Mandatory Home Inspections Under Climate Bill

So this is some of the new green jobs created, inspectors.

Oh, lovely! Another way for our already oppressive government to shove their fingers down our throats. I seriously hope this doesn't pass.

I can imagine if it does there will be millions of homes condemned due to their age. Glad I'm not a home owner.

Just Great. This old farm house is bound to be torn down. Half the windows don't even have glazing on them anymore. Some of the window frames are rotted. The basement leaks like a sieve. Shall I go on.................I'm better off in a tent as far as they're concerned.
Your opponet got stronger today, did you?

Surely to goodness this would only take place for those that are selling their homes, but who knows with this circus government.

Just bring a warrant and you can come in.

I'm sure they'll make it voluntary... the buyer just can't get a mortgage without the inspections, so it will be de facto required without ever being "forced" on anyone.

Well, first let me say that I think this bill is a government scam to make money for the government and it's cronies. However, a lot of fear mongering is going on about this government inspection thing. The government is not going to go door to door demanding that all homes be retro fitted. However, if you plan to sell your home, it will be hit hard with energy audits and a need to be retro fitted to have the sale go through and so on.
Another down point...if you plan to get a new appliance, you will need to buy a more efficient model (which most do anyways)..BUT you won't be able to sell your old one as many do. They say all older non compliant models absolutely must be destroyed. No more finding a bargain at a yard sale for young couples starting out.
It's things like that which are going to be a "trickle down" affect on our lives. There won't be any way to save by buying the smaller slightly less efficient model, no way to buy cheaper light bulbs, we will be trapped (once again) by government regulations.

HP, you hit the nail on the head...with a very big hammer. Ordinary incandescent light bulbs are already being limited, and the "energy efficient" mercury-filled compact flourescents have taken their place.

It won't become a law, just a regulation of available products, eventually causing no alternative.
