Unfortunately you're right on Wife. The flavor has changed and they're already on the wagon for more.

Also, unfortunately, I don't see any way back. If he were to drop dead tomorrow and the Congress, all of a sudden, decided to do what is fiscally necessary, we'd still have all of those "gimme" people.

We can only do our best to keep our preps up, make our plans and stay aware of what's going on and how it affects us.

Fellow Survivalists,
To give the short answer to the original thread question...You mean Obamanomics hasn't destroyed the economy already?
:)
On a more somber note, whenever the Bush Bailout money and the "TARP" Money and the auto bailout money all start circulating through the economy, that is when "interesting times" are going to get even more "interesting." I've got my provisions for months ready and with smaller portions, I could make them last maybe a couple of years.
Already, gasoline has started going back up. It was as low as $1.50 a gallon in my area, but now the lowest gas station I know charges $2.25 a gallon. It will definitely hit higher in the middle of Summer and with price controls and "anti-gouging" legislation firmly in place, gas stations will no doubt once again run out and be the source of sissy-slap-fights among the sheeple.
Fortunately, I always gas up at night to get more gas, use my Wal-Mart gift card to get $.03 off per gallon, and I always keep my tank at least half full, no matter what the price of gas is.
I have recently started paring off unneccessary weight in the back of my truck and I am making my BOB and tool box much more compact and Spartan, so that I can accommodate moving my own possessions and maybe moving for others for hire. When I get out into the country, I'll definitely keep cans of gas with Sta-Bil in them to increase the gasoline shelf-life.

You are correct Kenno. Those of us responsible who pay off our CC's every month or keep it manageable will instead subsidize those who do not or care not to. They banks need to come after us to make money somehow. Just goes along with the whole socialism path. The poor folks who act like idiots and are too stupid know any better, we are to take care off. It's not thier fault..........BS

I heard that the new credit card laws enacted to "protect the consumer" actually make it worse on those who pay thier bills on time! Oh well, back to a cash economy (ie barter)

We have been planning a trip to Scotland. We decided to wait at least a year and so how things go. I would hate to have something major happen and be trapped on another continent!

Yeah, he's gonna rip us off completely. They're taxing everything so much even my health benefits pretty soon. I always claim 0 with my taxes so I get more back at the end of the year and I just changed that to claim 1 because i have a feeling there will be no tax refund next year. I also stopped putting money in to my retirement fund 403b, I was losing more than I was putting in. I cannot touch it even if I didn't care about the fees and penalties, they have it fixed that the only way to getit out is to roll it over into something else or lose my job. Which may happen sooner than later.
I've really been re-thinking my trip to WY and MT lately too. I just don't know what is going to happen and if I'll need that money.

All I've got to say is, we may be broke when he's done, but we won't be hungry (for a while) and never bewildered, we now know exactly what he's doing.
On another note, I've been worried about what we would do if we indeed had to retire (hastily) to one of our dirt patches. We would have about 14 people to house. I've been reading up on the viking "longhouse". Being mostly underground, they were cool in the summer and warmed more easily in the winter, a real viable option. :DLast edited by Skyowl's Wife; 05-19-2009, 06:58 PM.
