The teachers have gotten out of control and it has become a case of the students misinterpreted the assignment. I think the teacher has misinterpreted their role as an educator.

Parents, you must be involved in your children's eduaction. Go to meetings and be aware of what is going on in yours schools. Protest as required if the system is going the wrong way.

I think if it was my kid, I'd be having a heart to heart talk with both the teacher and the principal. I'd request my kid do an alternative assignment and explain the reason why. If that didn't work, the swchool board and the superintendant would be next. If that still didn't work, I'd tell them that little Johnny would be taking a zero for the assignment.

After meandering about for years trying to decide what I wanted to be when I grow up it occurred to me that I could make a contribution to our society and devote my time to help educate our youth. I spent 5 years at an accredited :rolleyes: university in preparation for this endeavor....The education INDUSTRY is out of control....in some communities this institution dictates/levies taxes without community input..... while there are many people in this industry devoted to the well being of our children and dedicated to our communities they are outnumbered by the inept, the clueless and the corrupt. Given that our social structure began crumbling decades ago, (which in truth was never even close to the utopia many of us and the rest of the world were conditioned to believe) the education industry reared its ugly head and assumed a parental role. Land is condemned/confiscated by and for the education industry. Parents are placated but there concerns are seldom acted upon....much like our gov collectively functions. We step up as individuals or as small groups and our concerns are entertained but little is change other than methods to prevent opportunities for future complaints. This is successful because we will not as neighbors or as entire communities stand shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand elevating the sound of our voices to a roar.

My wife told me of a story of when she was young girl and a "Pioneer". There became a poster child of the People, a young boy who became famous in song and his name was written on the banners that they carried in the streets of holiday marches. He was to become the symbol of what they, "the children" should all strive to become. This young boy of 12 (I think 12 yrs old) turn his father over to the police for stealing a loaf of bread from the bakery of the people. They sent him, this father of the boy to the Gulag. Strange thing... But it sounds like it can get even stranger here. PF

Maybe it is innapropriate but so much better than all the other crap nobody ever says a word about. We are watching out country turn into a nation of wimps right before out eyes.

My philosophies differ greatly with most people, especially those in the education industry. I substituted this past year to experience the various age groups/grades and community settings. I found myself very comfortable in the classrooms but quite at odds with the practices of the institutions. I suspected there might be conflicting ideals while attending classes at the university with others seeking a teaching license. I didn't feel as though I would be a good fit...I decided that I wouldn't practice teaching after all. I feel as though I have let some down but I'm to old to put up with any B.S. (from the "adults"....I can deal with the kids.) And I'm not that hungry.

I see your angle -- I think... Educating children on terrorism could give them a special set of tools to recognize the vulnerabilities of the environment around them, and this heightened awareness could lead to a safer future, or at least a more realistic approach to what could happen.

I have taken a couple years worth of cyber security type courses, and the first thing they do is teach you how to hack. The rationale being that if we aren't at least as good as the hackers, how can we ever stop/control them.

My hope is that this form of terror education is being taught in the same spirit of prevention... the alternative would be deplorable.

Perhaps we should all take our BA and master degrees and do 20 hrs for our teachers "Certificate"...(right?) I have a great respect for the teachers' world.
I do, but I have been arounds the block as a parent as well. No bad things, but.. more than not? Their are some that have the calling and gift. Let us raise them up in admiration... Some of the others? I would not trust them with the brains to operate the most simple processes in my office.

You ever consider private schools? My gdaughter and 2 gsons says the pledge of allegiance every day (using "under God" in it) and morning, grace, and afternoon prayers.

They still teach long division and sentence diagramming.
