I can't help but wonder, why the histaria? There are an average of 200,000 cases of "flu" every year in the US with an average of 63,000 deaths "related to the flu virus". I understand the possibility of the quick travel of this one, but I really don't know what to think about the hype on it. I don't want to be a "conspiracy nut job"

I can't help but ask myself, WHO is behind it, WHO will benefit from it, WHAT liberties will be lost, HOW much more money will be stolen and well, it is the PERFECT way to keep people locked in their own homes. Pandemic scares are like that. ;)

As for the hysteria in the media: Ratings? Misdirection? Who knows.

However for the ones who are experiencing this illness, I am pretty sure they feel quite lousy. I just hope we see no deaths from it here in the U.S. and I hope no more die from it at all.

I think what we all have to consider is if our town or city, etc. happened to be quarantined, would we be able to make it on what preps we have.

As for deaths in the U.S. there were 2 men hospitalized because of it and have now died. I posted the link on the next post down from this one. They are looking in to it but would they tell us if it was related? I don't know.

Unswydd, I believe both deaths have been ruled out as being related to SF. I would hope they would tell us the truth. Who knows in today's world.

Yes I think there is some hype but the CDC and WHO have been worried for over a decade that 'The Big One' was due to hit any year now, and since the victims have largely been young folks, like in the 1918 outbreak, health officials who are hyper-sensitive to this, are unintenionaly 'leaking fear from thier pores' so to speak...and it makes great, ratings grabbing TV. It will take weeks before we know for certain how bad it actually is.

...unless people start dropping like flies.

I think it's misdirection - we'll have nationalized/rationed health care before the end of the week.

Wife, I am in complete agreement with you on this. I think it's all just to get us into the "Nationalized Health Care" plan of Obamas. This is a ruse of sorts I think. I know it is real and that it's been expected for some time but when have they ever made such a big deal out of it. I just don't know what's going on.

Yes, I agree. First the universal healthcare plan will be for those with no coverage and then when the private insurances become too expensive for average folks to pay for and/or go out of business, then it will be mandatory for all of us to join the nazi, umm, universal healthcare program.

I do question whether or not the doctors will accept it (at first)? I don't know anything about government insurances. Here in Tn. we don't have Medicaid, we have TennCare and I know a lot of doctors will not accept it. I DO know a lot of families on TennCare and they have been screwed over so much and had to do without meds and doctor visits due to being dropped and then re-added, etc. It is a nightmare for them.
