  • Crisis Plunges U.S. Middle Class into Poverty

I am only posting the links to this article that is in 2 parts. I have never experienced such an economic crisis that has accelerated this quickly. In the 70s, I was a kid, in the 80s, I was too poor to know we were in a recession.

I honestly believe we are in a depression and I encourage everyone to keep stocking and prepping as best you can because I believe this summer may be a very "hot" one to go through. I hope I am wrong. (I believe Shadow Stats has the current unemployment rate at 19.1% http://www.shadowstats.com/ )

    PT 1

The financial crisis in the US has triggered a social crisis of historic dimensions. Soup kitchens are suddenly in great demand and tent cities are popping up in the shadow of glistening office towers. Even drug dealers are feeling the pinch.

There are some pretty good pics to go along with the article.

I have been watching this economic crisis develop for a couple of years now and even though there has been "glimmers of hope," according to our spin doctors, it is not showing up in the "real" world, at least not in my part of it.

This is a real, here now, crisis that we all need to be aware of and respond to as best we can. (Not to mention all the other stuff going on, which I told D., I would back off of a bit. :))

I also encourage everyone to participate in the survival threads and ask questions and bring up scenarios others may have not thought of as of yet. :D

Read the article, both parts. Certainly the economy is taking a nose dive and Mr O is responsible along with his cohorts in the congress and senate. I'm also not sure of the number quoted for killings, 120,000? No substantiation for this number. I'm also sure that we will reach that number, but when I don't know. It is only going to get worse.
    Thanks for posting this Oz.
    As Zombie Axe would say...

Oz, good read. But, while the high lighted numbers are close as they are reported they are organized in a way to make good reading. I have family coast to coast and we keep our ears open to most aspects of this country's performance. I am just saying no ones needs to jump off the bridges just yet. I am involved with this country's logistics of goods with the largest provider. You all see them/us almost daily. Another family member is in the Airline business and crisscrosses the country 20 times a week. Talking to everyone. Also is in tight with the LDS organization. Another is in the Tech/Software world. Deals with travel, sales, purchases and has a finger on business sentiments. Finally have another member in the Northwestern 48 and this member is in tight with the Ranchers and Mineral producers in the area. So I am just saying don't let a foreign publication add to the stress we feel. After all we are here to help each other hedge our positions when and is a SHTF situation occurs.

I surely hope no one jumps off of a bridge at all. :) What would be the good in that?

I also have family coast to coast, in various industries and of varying degrees of intelligence. :) The observances being reported to me are that the economy is NOT on an upswing as being portrayed by the White House and MSM.

I guess it is a fact that it is a recession when your neighbor loses his job and a depression when you lose yours. :(

Here is an interesting map of job gains and losses. Starts in 2007, until Feb. 09.

The economic crisis, which has claimed more than 5 million jobs since the recession began, did not strike the entire country at once. A map of...
