No doubt, you are aware of the fact that Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) has introduced legislation in Congress to require a federal license for all handguns and semi-automatics, including those you currently possess.

Rush's bill, HR 45, would also require handgun and semi-auto owners to be thumbprinted at the police station and to sign a certificate that, effectively, the firearm will not be kept in a place where it would be available for the defense of the gun owner's family.

Well, in Missouri, Rep. Jim Guest is planning to torpedo that bill, if and when it ever gets passed by Congress and is signed into law by President Obama.

Rep. Guest has introduced HB 632, a bill that would preemptively put Missouri on record as standing in opposition to the implementation of Rush's bill in the Show Me state.

So, if you live in Missouri -- and if you can make it to the Capitol tomorrow morning -- Rep. Jim Guest would like you to come show support for his bill. You can read the bill at:

The Missouri House of Representatives will be holding a hearing on HB
632 in the morning. This bill, entitled the Missouri Right to Protection Act:

(1) Specifies that all lawful citizens of Missouri have the right under the United States Constitution to protect themselves using guns, mace, or any means necessary to stop an assailant;

(2) Specifies that all lawful citizens of Missouri have the right to defend themselves without government interference unless in the act of committing a crime;

(3) Prohibits any governmental agency from waiving the gun and ammunition rights of law-abiding Missouri citizens and tracking their guns and ammunition, including markings, radio frequency identification, or any other direct identifiers; and

(4) Specifies that all law-abiding citizens of Missouri have the constitutional right to privacy in their homes, farms, vehicles, trailers, or other places of domicile and to be anonymous unless in the act of committing a crime.
