  • Shooting on movie set 1 dead and 1 wounded

Hollywood does it again! Take one anti gun actor mix with loaded handgun pull trigger see what hapoens. Alex is a big name on the West coast. He is well known for his attitude on guns. But this movie called Rust, had him handle and shoot a pistol in the direction of the camera. Thus problems happened fast.

No one checked the type of rounds that were in the pistol
An assistant director handed Alex the weapon stating it was cold! Did not check the pistol.
live ammo should never be on a movie set!
Was not certified to handle weapons.
No live rounds were to be on set/ mixed with blanks.
    No certified armour on hand
Three other gun discharge over the last week at this movie site
People walked away from this movie site due to unsafe conditions

    That is just the start!

As none of the articles I've read mentioned did he fire one shot and hit two people? At close range, a blank can be deadly; however, two people is difficult to believe.

As you stated, there is no excuse for stupid.

      There are two Baldwin brothers.
Adam sits on his butt and Alec has his head up his butt.

There are actually 3 other brothers (none of them are named Adam) and 2 sisters. There are Bill, Daniel and Stephen who are all actors also. Stephen is probably the second most known. In fact he was on Trumps Celebrity Apprentice at least one season

THE Baldwin family certainly has a few famous faces in it. Alec Baldwin has three brothers in the industry: Stephen, Bill and Daniel. Who are the Baldwins? All of the Baldwin brothers work in the e…

TMZ was investigating this shooting and talked to a few workers there. They claim it was sabotage and some one loaded a live round in the magazine. Possible with all the many work-related accidents on the job due to safety concerns.

Another version said some of the crew were using the pistol to shoot beer cans.

Oh goodie, the stories will change as fast as mountain weather..

Now Alex Baldwin is claiming he didn't pull the trigger... I've been shooting firearms since I was 10 and I never had one fire a round without me pulling the trigger.

I have........in fact several. "Slam Fires" be one example.
One day you eat the chicken.....next day the left-over chicken.....next five days you eat chicken feathers, head and feet.

Sourdough, can you elaborate? "Slam-Fire" is not a term I have heard. Everything I have seen from all the talking head "experts" and my own experience with revolvers says you can't fire the gun without pulling the trigger. I'm not doubting what you said, or challenging. I would just like to learn.

Slam Fires......are a by product of a "Free Floating Firing PIN". The AR-platform firearms are "one" example.

My Commet was in response to firearms discharging, without the trigger pulled.

Another classic example, is the trigger set too lightly, and the firing, when safety moved to "OFF".

I have experienced both of these.

Pistols I don't know but the M-16 series yes over 38 years and I witness an accident on the range. Marines fire in different positions at different ranges. I saw a Marine moving from standing to prone position when the butt of his M-16A1 hit the concrete pad it went off shooting at about 75 degrees. Did not hit anyone. But his day was done. They had more incidents when they first came out. They made a change in design so it did not happen again.

                        Story for you

After I left Na m in 72 I was put on rifle range to shot. All Marines had to. We had M-16's so when the call came out for rapid fire we put the selector switch to auto. Fastest shooting ever. They forgot we were just back from a war zone.

Another time I was on the range when a herd of American Bison came over a ridge line. Some dumb Marine took a shot at the herd. He hit one but instead of laughing, we had to run with a herd mad as hell. Later I was told that the round did not penetrate

I've been shooting firearms for many decades and never had a firearm shoot without my finger applying pressure on the trigger. One exception is when the chamber of a FA is so hot, rounds will cook off.
I own several old firearms. Old pump shotguns, where if one keeps the trigger depressed and pumps, it will go bang. By old, I mean a Winchester 1898 pump shotgun or a pre-1954(?) Ithaca pump shotgun.
A slam fire is not the product of a free floating firing pin. It is an interesting effect of an old pump shotgun or rifle that lacks a reset. Under some unusual/odd circumstances, some AKs etc with a floating firing pin may fire when chambering a round, but that is not a small fire.
Some old firearms will fire a round or shell IF the trigger is depressed when chambering a round. My pre-disconnector Browning and Ithaca shotguns will fire. However, that does not meet the definition of a slam fire as why would one do such a thing?

OTOH, if a primer in reloaded ammo is not set at a proper depth what you describe is possible.
Heck, even Wikipedia know that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slamfire

Has anybody seen an update on this story? Supposedly the FBI was testing the gun to see if it was defective, which the "experts" say is the only way it could have happened the way Alec Baldwin described it.
