  • WW2 vet story (last guy from unit gets bottle of whiskey)

There's something about how the guys from this unit 'soldiered' on despite bad equipment, extreme conditions, and so on. And the way they picked up and carried on as best they could, too. SO much respect and appreciation for them. Bottle of whiskey fulfills brotherly WWII pact to last surviving soldier

I'm just kind of in awe. Their story seems like a sort of stand out, but I know there are many others from different eras that are similar. Thanks to all for your service.

The last guy getting the bottle of whiskey is a pretty powerful touch, too.

(Anyone remember that episode of M*A*S*H when Col. Potter got a bottle for the same reason? Makes me want to go find a way to watch that episode, but I'm thinking my memory of it may be better than the episode. M*A*S*H's jokes/etc. are kind of dated now, etc.)

Been there, done that. Then been there again several times, because apparently I never learn.
