Hey ya'll, found this site thru Craig's list too. Glad to be here and thank ya for inviting me! I'm on the SC coast now, but will be moving up to the Mountains very soon.
Growing up in the country, its hard to get away from fresh foods and having plenty of it, with a lot of work and sweat in order to get it. As I got older, I never got over the feeling of 'what if something happened', and always kept a stocked pantry and provisions. My husband (at the time) thought it was farfetched but didnt mind that I planned for problems.
Nowadays, even though its just me (my son is grown and on his own), I've become as self sufficient as possible, and continually learn more and more. This year I plan solar energy, solar dehydrating, water cache, and several other survivalist traits, not only for my own safety but just to live off grid and not be dependent on Big Brother for basics like food, clothing, shelter and warmth.
I'm interested in learning as much as I can, and try to absorb all the info that comes my way. Gonna read a lot of posts and any info you guys would like to share..
