Yes we do know how to make syrup, we do not own property yet to have a sugarhouse...we are both Massachusetts natives, I transplanted up here about a year and a half ago in order to take the job I have now...
oh my... you're from DA DA DUMMMM...(that's dramatic music) "The Evil Empire!?" Well, I'm glad you made it out alive! ha ha ha... sorry... I had to do it.... and if there is anyone here from MA... well don't feel bad it's a nice place and there is no need for you to migrate north of the border... really ... it's not that great up here.... you'll be fine down there I swear.... no need to move... there's not much room up here anyway... and for the most part we don't have sidewalks or streetlights... we can still hunt with rifles so it's kind of dangerous...
removing tongue from cheek
nice to see other northern New Englanders Old Man What part of the Empire did you escape from?

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! I'm actually just in my 30s, certainly not as old as my screen name implies! I was in a band by that name many years ago, and liked the meaning behind it, so I held onto it all of this time.
The way I found the Craigslist entry was searching the word "military" I believe, under "For Sale/Wanted." To whomever posted that-- THANK YOU!
While I am active on a couple of sites and Yahoo groups (most notably PSU2), I have not run into anyone else from my neck of the woods before.
Sorry, Bud....it already stuck, and you're not gonna be able to rub it off.......I dub thee nickname: Old Man.....that'll be $20 please.

Greetings, I'm from northern Vermont and found this site through a posting on my local Craigslist page.
I am looking to expand my knowledge, share my own with others, and if luck will allow, to network with others who may be in my area.
Between myself and my fiance, we bring many skills to the table that
could be very useful in SitX. Myself, I was raised in the woods and
summered on the ocean, grew up backpacking and camping in every
conceivable weather condition and loved it. Was a Boy Scout until I
turned 17, then joined the Army/Guard and am still involved over 14
years later. I don't just "talk the talk," I also "walk the walk,"
having extensive training and having survived against tremendous odds
(both natural and man-made situations) many times during my military
service. I work in law enforcement and have for about eight years,
which has the additional advantage of allowing me to know what
civilian authorities are doing as well as the military. In my spare time my main hobby is amateur radio; I also enjoy tinkering with vehicles and reading military history.
My fiance has no military service but a wide variety of useful skills. She has
worked in agriculture for about ten years and manages a facility, and
knows all there is to know about farming and planting crops. She can
also cook with limited resources when needed, sew, do light
metalwork, repair vehicles and just about anything with an engine,
and best of all she is eager to learn more survival skills as time
goes on.
Together we enjoy "roughing it" and backpacking off the
beaten path, climbing, camping, and generally enjoy the outdoor
experience anywhere, any time.
