  • Hello from thawed out KY!

Hi there, I had joined a few weeks ago, but had not had a chance to get back on the site, since we got all of the ice and snow.

I have been on State Active Duty for the past two weeks, and I am just now getting around to getting back on the computer, as well as being home!

A little about me, I am a Blackhawk helicopter crew chief in the KYNG for a Medevac unit, as well as being the ALSE (Aviation Life Support Tech) for our unit.

I have been in the NG since 1990. Deployed to Iraq 05/06 with an assault helicopter unit in the KYNG, and then switched over to the Medevac when we came home.

I teach firearms classes, survival classes, and do my National Guard thing. I believe that you should not only be prepared for the short term, but you should be able to be self sufficient, once your supplies run out, or worse case, get destroyed or stolen by someone that was not prepared.

Good to see you on here, I lived in Garrard Co, before I joined the USAF, and man I still miss it. I have quite a few buddies in the gaurd.

How did you fair last night with the wind storms last night, my folks lost power again after being 12 days without it due to the ice storms.

Oh, the storms were not TOO bad. We were all hoping that we would NOT get called back up to SAD today, so far so good :). We live just south of Nicholasville, and except for a a few years out with the Army, and working for contractors, as well as the 3 years we lived in SC (Upstate), where my wife is from, I have been here most of my life.

Welcome to the site! Glad to hear you are finally getting back to normal. I use the Kentucky ice storm as an example of why you need to be prepared. It may not be riots, corrupt government, etc.

I know you must have learned a lot about preparedness. Share what you have time to. Thanks!
JUST CURIOUS? PRUNES ARE DEHYDRATED PLUMS. SO WHERE DOES PRUNE JUICE COME FROM?

Damn we were pretty much neighbors, both my parents lived in Nicholasville until I was born then we moved down to Lancaster. But the old man still works up at Gulf States.

Haha I wouldn't be too surprised if you know him.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. On top of it all were the cases (there were a LOT) of flyers we were hauling all over the state to warn people about the Peanut Butter in the FEMA meals!. Sad part was that FEMA had them made up so quickly, makes one wonder if they knew about the possibly contaminated peanut butter BEFORE the ice storm, or if it came up from someone asking a question about the recent Peanut butter scare.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to
beat you to death with it because it is empty.

The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.

I get down to Campbell every now and then, we had 3 aircraft down there today. I was on a flight tonight around Frankfort, about 2 hours. I was there about 3pm, and just now getting home at 130AM!. Gotta love pilots, they are on their own time!
