Thanks to all of you for the welcome.
Again, I would like to ask the various members what they all do to help themselves and their families and save money, during these troubling times.
We grow gardens, raise chickens, process and eat a deer or two, fish, trade and barter with friends for things we don't have.
We spend very little money, because my husband is an Agent Orange Vietnam veteran, and we live off his comp pension.
So, how do all of you do it?

Hello from Sw MO
Hi, I am writing in for the first time .
I just wanted to say it is especially important in these times to be as self sufficient as possible.
I don't trust any government. I think Big Brother needs to stay out of our barnyards (they keep trying to implement NAIS.) I have been fighting against government control of farm animals from the beginning.
I also think every person should have at least six months food and six months ready cash stashed at all times.
This is a Depression, not a Recession, and it is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
My family and I raise bees, garden, chickens. We try to provide as many of our own needs as possible.
Under a sheet of heavy plastic in our raised beds, we have radishes, lettuce, spinach growing, after zero degree windchills on four different nights.
Not everybody realizes you can grow cool weather crops all winter long. Try it, if you haven't.
I'd like to know what all of you do to economize in these troubled times.
