Howdy everyone!
Reporting in from the Lowcountry of South Carolina. I'm a 25 year old active duty USAF member & veteran(2 tours OEF, 3 Tours OIF), and I'm currently a field instructor for the Air Force out of Charleston AFB. I've 'visited' 41 countries and 6 continents for Uncle Sam and now I've been grounded for the next couple of years.
Originally from central KY, right next to the Appalachia, so living far out isn't anything new. Lived on a tobacco farm until I joined the service and I've been heavily interested in survival/self-sufficiency, camping, backpacking, farm etc almost my whole life.
I'm married to an expatriated Canadian dogsledder and we maintain a halfway homestead on our little plot here in SC. We raise ducks, chickens, and 5 dogs at the moment while trying to live the day to day.
I'm heavily into fitness and nutrition, because what good are skills if you have not the body to endure and implement them. I've ran 1- 26.2m marathon, and 1-50m Ultra marathon, with another 26.2 coming up next weekend. I hike as much as possible and live by the principle of Bruce Lee to be "Always Training" Whether it be running up a flight of stairs or walking the full distance instead of driving, to adding more weight than needed while hiking. I spend most of my free time, exercising, reading up on everything from philosophy, medical practices, low intensity farming, politics, and survivalism, or tending to our garden. On average we raise 75% of the food we eat on our small plot in our backyard.
I'm avid in learning from others and obtaining as many skills as I can, currently I'm reading up on HAM radio operation, and building construction.
If you live in the lowcountry, or if you a good ol boy/girl from the bluegrass feel free to send me a message.
On a more personal level I'm a big Bluegrass music fan, I also spend some time training our dogs in obedience/protection.
I'm very glad I've found this group and I hope to expand my skills and hopefully share what I have learned.
