I hope this is the proper place for this. I am a retired teacher and have been interested in survival skills since the Gulf War. Love to vegetable garden and can what I grow. Not sure how much knowledge I have to offer. Everyone probably knows it, but the Dollar Store is a great place to buy Treat for storage and personal items like soap and toothpaste. Thanks for the welcome.

beat you to death with it because it is empty.

        Welcome
Everyone has something to offer and something to learn.
Speaking of soap, Walgreens has coupons in their flyer right now
for their store brand bar soap 3 bars/ $1, I bought some last night.

The are made in Canada, NOT CHINA!!!!

Time to stock up... could make a great barter item too!

                              dehydrating food

I bought an inexpensive dehydrator and had little success. I did dry some figs using screens stacked together but when I read that most dried foods last only a short time or need to go in the freezer, I just decided to stick with canning. I am sure others know a great deal more about dehydration but like I said, I couldn't see drying something only to have to freeze it. Good luck on your garden. Will post some pictures of mine when it gets planted in May. I also have a rain collection system using rain from the gutters that we are pumping to the garden to soaker hoses and when they go down for the summer I will post some pictures.
