  • Hello from South Carolina.

I found this site on craigslist. -Good idea by the way, posting out there.

I'm female and am 31 years old. I'm married, have two children and own 60 acres in SC. I'm interested in survival techniques and was immediately intrigued when I browsed this site. I don't spend a whole lot of time on the pc, but look forward to learning a lot from this site as time allows me to get on and read through it.

I'm very interested in becoming more self-sufficient. Later ~Pony

        Welcome,
Good to hear from more Carolinians.
60 acres... it looks like have a good set up.

Do you farm or have a large garden?

I have a small garden for my family that didn't produce very well last year, but should do better this year. W just bought the property a few years ago, so I'm working on enriching the soil.

We have about 40 of the acres in pine, and the rest is cleared. I have about 10 acres fenced for my horses and will fence in the remaining acres within the next year. The work takes forever because it's just me and my husband plugging away at it. But it's rewarding and well worth the effort to me. I'm thinking about getting a pig and a cow as soon as I get the rest of the fencing up. That way I can rotate pastures and grass feed all the animals as much as possible. Our family of 4, and our neighbors (2) will be able to eat a while off of a pig and a cow.

Howdy, Pony! It sounds like you and yours have a great set-up down in Palmetto Lowcountry.
