  • Forget terrorists or Obama, look at this !!

I heard about this on the news today. Wow, wouldn't this be a disaster!!

Posted by geologist Christopher C. Sanders on January 1, 2009.

"I am advising all State officials around Yellowstone National Park for a potential State of Emergency. In the last week over 252 earthquakes have been observed by the USGS. We have a 3D view on the movement of magma rising underground. We have all of the pre warning signs of a major eruption from a super volcano. - I want everyone to leave Yellowstone National Park and for 200 miles around the volcano caldera."http://www.earthmountainview.com/yel...ellowstone.htm

Yeah, this has been building for a couple of weeks. I hope I am far enough away should this caldera go. I am not sure if people in China are far enough away.

Lovely. Just wonderful. (being sarcastic, of course). In another thread the question was asked "What are you preparing for"...this is one of those things.

For the most part, yes. I've got enough food for myself, my dad, and his wife to sustain us for the better part of a couple weeks. What worries me the most is the possibility of this super volcano causing Mt. St. Helens or Rainier to blow at the same time. Goodbye Pacific Northwest.

Something to consider; If a super volcano was to erupt the Earth would have a cloud of ash blocking out sunlight for upwards of 2 years. Are you prepared to live underground for that amount of time??

Just in case that isn't enough, here's another thing that could ruin your day.

Although at least there is no data to suggest a solar event in the immediate future.

                    Cheers,

History channel had had a special on major earth disasters for several years now. According to the experts in this area, If Yellowstone blows big the blast will devestate much of the USA, The ash will block the sun, global famine, you will need a few years worth of food. So I would not worry about a thing.

I watched that too. Didn't they say that everything within a 650 mile radius from the eruption would die not primarily from the explosion but from the toxic gasses released?

...and my humble, crappy little town rests no more than 600 miles from Yellowstone. I just hope I'm around long enough to watch the panic ensue on the unsuspecting and unaware. I think it'll be hilarious.
