No, not at all Rusty. I don't like them living on the end of my county, making decisions that affect me, and trying to make the WHOLE county 'the way it was back up North!!!'

Don't care if they ruin their part of the county, but when they come up with stupid stuff that impacts us, "dumb ass hicks in the sticks", I take offense as well as my neighbors ;)

So if their pretty fish pond went dry and turned into mud flats, I wouldn't be happy cause their property satisfaction went down, I'd be happy that they'd start thinking about moving out of state ;) I am in no way jealous of a house too big to live in, a postage stamp sized lot and frickin' homeowners associations...

I have posted on this subject before, but not here. There are books and web sites that "reinterpert" the law to make it seem silly.
The law in question is not about water barrels but 'water catchments' which would include dams and any other diversion created on private lands to hold back large bodies of water on private land, especially as a means of extorting money from PPL that live along the native riverbeds of said drainages and extract thier AG lifestyle from said waters.
As for the water meters on private wells; most private residential users do not pump enough water to be a threat to a water table but commercial and commercial AG users often do pump millions of gallons of water taht does lower the table and that is why you see giant sink holes in places like Florida.

Funny thing is two summers ago, the ivory tower folks on county water at the Big Lake North of Charlotte and Duke power were saying that all the private well users were using up lots of water. This, the people proclaimed, was sucking out the water from the lake...

Dad and I were tempted to run our wells 24/7 until million dollar homes sat overlooking mud flats... but we ain't those kind of folks...

Funny folks that are on private wells are more water conservationalists than any flouride crude sucker.. cause when we go dry... we are SCREWED!!!:eek:

Did you know that there are some States where it is Illegal to catch Rainwater?
A rain barrel will get you fined and could get you some jail time. :eek:

I understand it, having been raised out west all my life where water is important. Most of the water in a lot of places is due to run off. The theory is, by you stopping the water on your propery, you are infringing on my water rights.

Most places, that theory is complete BS.

Last year in NC we dodged a bullet after the 'put a meter on private wells and charge you for it' legislation failed to pass :rolleyes:

Control water and you can control EVERYTHING :mad:

RDR, I was reading about that it was illegal in Oregon... and actually it was like some organic farm...
