Can anyone tell me how long can I store K1 Kerosene in plastic fuel containers?

    Does it de-stabilize like gasoline?

Planning on keeping around five 10 gallon cans in my garage to fuel a kerosene heater in case we lose electricity.

Any safety issues besides the obvious???

    Thanks, Bubba

I'll check on it for you but I do know that diesel will grow algae. Additives will prevent this.

2-10 years with this additive claims the manufacturer.

Google it...there are lots of products out there.

here's another link that indicates K1 can be stored a long time with no special treatment and that diesel needs the anti-algae additive.

I'd keep it one season and then give it to a friend that can use it for something else like adding burning it in their diesel or for starting brush piles. That way you will always have fresh fuel for the stove.
