  • I don't get it?

I listed a new contest in the contest section in which I will give the winner some cool stuff that is all new from the gun industry and I will be adding more to it. Here is what kills me it seems like if you are not taking about guns or knives no one reads or replies to the bulk of the threads. Here it is in a nut shell, if the SHFT and people think hay I have an AR15 and a rat 4 I will do just fine, they will be in for a word of suck. Survival to me means a whole package not just bunkering up with guns ammo and MREs. You need to know how to grow food, know bush craft, urban survival, more then some basic first aid, car repair, construction, water treatment, hunting, fishing, preserving food, E&E, marksmanship, gun repair, basic hand tools and so much more as the event may turn out to be long term. I meet too many ( mainly young men ) in my work who's main plan is to live out of their BOB with their guns and ammo and just roam the countryside. please don't think this rant is about the contest it is more about their are some great threads on this forum with great tips, tricks and advice that just don't seem to get the kind of play that they should and even less interaction. Oh well this ends my rant.

    Nicely said.
    I agree.
I try and do everything you mentioned.

I couldn't agree with you more. To be honest the forum is really starting to get boring seeing that it's always the same people participating. I will definately say it is a fairly friendly forum, but it needs far more imput from fresh blood.

I don't know what to think, but I do know I'm back on my feet now and will be busy practicing skills hands on among other things so I myself will not be around much. I understand some people don't like to participate and or don't have time like I have due to my recent medical issues, but things still don't add up as far as participation.

As far as your contest goes, I think it was a great idea, but if you get a winner good luck getting their address to mail them their winnings. No one would accept my gift for them winning and in my world that is rude. They started sayiing some B.S. about OPSEC...give me a break.

The whole firearm issue really is a joke in my opinion when it comes to it being all people worry about.

Ever since I have come here I've noticed very few people actually posting pictures of getting out and doing stuff. Now that is sad, because I have been out more since I have been here in my current (now past) medical condition then I think most people spend on the toilet.

Ok, my ranting is now done also.

Wait, one more thing in regards to firearms...I have never figured out why people think it is the smart to post pictures of their firearms on the internet. You may have a right to own them, but there are people out there other then law enforcement who would love to put two and two together and figure out where you live.

Snow Walker and Omegaman, you both post great stuff that I read religiously. Suspect others do too. You both show a level of expertise that is awe-inspiring.

I don't always respond to the threads, because I have nothing to add other than a no-content comment. SkyOwl and I are 60ish. He's got a bad knee and a bad hips from all that jumping out of airplanes. I've got bad hips because I'm a post-menopausal woman, a fairly common thing. We won't be carrying packs anywhere, that's why we intend to shelter in place unless crap gets radioactive or so overrun with zombies we have no choice but to leave.

I read your stuff and share it with others, that's some of the "lurkers" you, Snow Walker, were wondering about. I have a small following at work who ask me questions about things I've read here, kind of the Grandma of prepping, although I've never SAID I was prepping. And I tell them what I've learned or refer them to your stuff.

One lady devours everything on here but doesn't post because she is new enough to it all that she's intimidated.

I brought over a guy from FreeRepublic just yesterday directly to one of SW's threads. He sent me two PMs thanking me. And is devouring what is here.

You two feel like you are pissing in the wind. Trust me well fellows, you are not, you are casting seeds that are growing far and wide.

I see what you guys are saying....I generally have a computer on from the time I get up...to the time I go to bed...checking it as I move through my office and at home.

It seems that most folks posting here...are the same 15 to 20 people.

The other site that I frequent....has an average of 3k folks on at any given point in time....from all over the world. I have invited many of them to come and join the forum over here...you can post a question there...and have 20 replys in 20 mins....here....you might get 10 over a days span.

It's a lot more laid back and not so soley "gun" oriented....thus far I've seen a few here from there....but none of whom I have invited. I like the relative absence of trolls here too....that may change with more members.

As far as posting pics of guns online....I'm an instructor....not a big secret I own guns....so I don't really give it much thought....That may change....but for now....oh well.

I like this site....I hope it picks up.

I work at a government computer, I'm limited to sites I can visit, I get to post when I get home and through the evening.

So, what do you want to see posts about? I have a ton of blog posts I could put in here.
As I've mentioned before, small forums are friendlier and have no real issues (except, um, their small), big forums always seem to have an over abundance of armchair survivalists and "mine's bigger" type of arguements PLUS with the bigger forums, you have trolls who are paid to stir controversy.

I'm not much with words, sometimes have trouble putting thoughts to paper, (computer) is very difficult. So I wait to find a thread I can add to. Most times my thoughts don't come out right so I end up deleting it. Thank God for spell check. Anyway, I just want you all to know your words are not falling on "deaf ears" and if I can put to words I will always try to add a little something. I have very limited internet time since I don't have it at home.

Agree with "Wife" as to why folks to don't post followups. I'm sort of one of them. Rarely does my feedback warrant forum space. You two are a victim of your knowledge base... you know too much :)

For what it's worth... it's be a shame to lose your inputs. Please keep them coming. Only through persistence will an outlet such as this forum continue to grow. I suspect it will begin to grow faster over the coming weeks and months and into the next year. Lots of change going on right now. Folks are waking up.

Geeze guys! You ARE appreciated! :) I feel like I need to back off, well, because I dont feel as if I really have that much to continuously offer.. then I think that we do hold some decent conversations about midgets and such. (JOKE) lol.. I love this site, but sometimes feel like Im posting too much.. I dont know.. Im not fearful of people knowing "who" I am, I just have to be careful giving out too personal info, being home with little ones alone at times... I actually get a lot of enjoyment from this site. I love to see when others chime in! Makes me feel like I have done a lot, or need to do a lot... This site isnt like the others with mass numbers.. I like it small and quaint. Am I rambling?? lol
If the zombies chase us, Im tripping you!!!
