it can come in handy, all else fails you can use it for a shelter or as part of a shelter. heck even those swimming noodles can be really handy in an Emergency situation. you can strap or tie them to all sorts of things to help keep it above water. might take more than one, but its worth it if you can keep something important on top of the water instead of sitting on the bottom.

thanks for the comments. Mine has come in real handy after flooding, especially when I didnt want to use my scout or jeep . I refuse to drive wearing my dive mask even if the snorkel is out of the water on my vehicle.

but the way I look at it, is its another option for transportion.as well as a way to get out there and gather food that might not be readily accessible from the banks of a river or creek. and its fun.

We have absolutely considered it, if not just for preps, but cause we "want" one! Living on the river, we have the best access.. I think its a great point! Nice...

Having a canoe or jon boat is very useful in my opinion, especially in the areas north of us! You can disappear really quick with a canoe for sure.

There are some areas I have always wanted to use a canoe for hunting because you can find the big bucks and bears without running into anyone else.

Good thread topic! Your biggest limitation is your imagination.

Hell yeah. I been wanting one for a long time (canoe).
Just look at southern Illinois and in Missouri. Those people would love to have one right now.

started a topic Canoes and other small Craft in SHTF

Canoes and other small Craft in SHTF

Just curious how many here, have or have considered adding Canoes or other craft to their preps.

I might be a total idiot LOL but I think they could end up quite useful if things go south in a big way.
Working...
