  • Unplanned "bugout" test.

I live in OK. Two of the smaller tornadoes were very close to my house. I was at work about 97 miles away from my family dealing with my own tornado. (I work out of El Reno OK.) For about 2 hours I was unable to get in touch with my family. Although I was concerned for my family I knew that they would be ok because we had preped for just this kind of thing. I eventually herd from my wife and all was well. When I got home we talked about her bugout with the kids. She found some gaps. Not with the preps themselves as everything is marked. Once again weight has become an issue. She felt that it took her to long to load the truck and some totes are just to heavy for her to lift on her own. Some things were left behind.
I guess what I'm trying to say is preps and planning is not enough. Practice like your life depends on it. One day it might.

My wife has said the something, "You think I'm picking that up?" So I have stuff in defendant totes with labels. If this then she know to grab what 1st and if you have time you get the rest. But like I've told her just make sure you can get out. Leave it if you have to.

Good to hear everyone is OK. Now at least you know the holes in the B.O. plan and can fix em.
