  • Getting the neighbors on board

I'm finally doing what I've been thinking of doing for over a year now.
Since I plan to shelter in place, I'm going to be stuck with whatever neighbors are sticking around. Since I can't be sure that any of my neighbors are prepared for anykind of emergency, I've turned to FEMA for help:rolleyes: (Never thought I'd say that:mad:)

I have pulled pertinent information from the ready.gov and USDA websites and put together an information pack that I plan to place on (not in) all of my neighbors mailboxes. I will do this under the cover of darkness, and put one on my own mailbox as well, to keep my anonymity. I feel this might accomplish two things... 1. get people thinking at the local level.... 2. open up a path for communications with the neighbors. ("Hey Joe... Did you get some FEMA packet on your mailbox the other day? what's your take on that?")

    Thoughts?

Here's a pic of two of the six pages in my packet

Hey! Just a thought here. I used to do a alot of mailings for different companies I worked for. You cant legally put it in their mailboxes. If Im not mistaken, ita a federal law. You can put it on doors, and porches, if it says "no solicitation", then that would be considered solicitation. I understand what your trying to do, and I agree! It is a great way to get someone attention, and at the very least, get them thinking. Like I said, im not positive, but the mailboxes are off limits, now, if your a "rule breaker" then have at it! lol.. just wanted you to be aware there could potentially be consequences to your good deed if you have an a-hole neighbor, your trying to help! :)

You are right... That's why I stipulated in the OP.
"that I plan to place on (not in) all of my neighbors mailboxes"
Here in NC you can tape items on the box, or tuck in behind the flag.

Plus, no one would ever know it was me, since I would be doing this at night and even spamming my own box.

I think its a great idea. Then later on when you have those little "hey did ya get some info" conversations, you can judge their reactions, level of interest and maybe able to figure out if they'll be an asset or liability in a SHTF scenario.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes, we may need to try the same thing.

                  LOL!!!

You speak the truth... But just like DawgFan mentioned... It might be a good way to identify the jackwagons before the curtain goes up. Whatever happens, no one will know of my involvement, or my preps.
I might even slap a "Hope and Change" sticker on my car just to throw them off..... Nah... wouldn't go that far.:D
