WHAT??? :) This came from the CDC gov website... interesting.. the link, and an insert

If zombies did start roaming the streets, CDC would conduct an investigation much like any other disease outbreak. CDC would provide technical assistance to cities, states, or international partners dealing with a zombie infestation. This assistance might include consultation, lab testing and analysis, patient management and care, tracking of contacts, and infection control (including isolation and quarantine). It’s likely that an investigation of this scenario would seek to accomplish several goals: determine the cause of the illness, the source of the infection/virus/toxin, learn how it is transmitted and how readily it is spread, how to break the cycle of transmission and thus prevent further cases, and how patients can best be treated. Not only would scientists be working to identify the cause and cure of the zombie outbreak, but CDC and other federal agencies would send medical teams and first responders to help those in affected areas (I will be volunteering the young nameless disease detectives for the field work).

It is an ad campaign. Rather effective, too.

Why do you think its effective? Have you seen/heard of this ad?
I think its a bit silly, but hey, if it works, it works! Maybe it'll get peoples wheels a turning? If not they might have a radio and a few bottles of water on hand, so they can sit comfortably and wait for the CDC? lol.. Im more worried about Obama is doing right now, than to ever worry about Zombies. Love them on t.v and movies, but dont buy the whole zombie apocalypse! Just thought what an "interesting" ad..:)

Zombies are the hot add spokes people. Ford was the first to use them two years ago followed by Toyota, Honda, KIA, Becks Beer, axe body spray and many more. Zombies are a huge part of pop culture and the have really gone main stream. The movies and video games that star them have massive followings and make millions of dollars. Here is the reason I think the CDC is using them, people seem more willing to entertain and talk about the possibility of a zombie out break before some other type of outbreak because you can joke about zombies and it’s hypothetical. Kind of like whistling through a graveyard.

I definately agree, it's just an effective way of reaching out to the younger generation in my opinion in regards to being prepared for emergencies.

In another article about the thing, they discussed the fact that they always put out the same old info on the same old way. So they came up with a way to put out the same old info in a brand new way.

Are you prepared for the impending zombie invasion? That's the question posed by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention in a Monday blog posting gruesomely titled, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse."

Says that it's info for a hurricane or pandemic (talks about a BOB, calling it an emergency kit), and has become the most popular CDC blog entry in just two days.

So yes, I've heard of this ad.

I'm betting someone on the staff that came up with this is a member of Zombie Squad forums. lol
It's a brilliant marketing scheme and gets people talking and reading about preparedness.

theres no conspiracy here, no secret end of the world knowledge. some one at the CDC went shopping for the first time at a Wally world and mistook the customers for zombies.
