  • My son crossed over........Scouts

Saturday night my son crossed over to Boy Scouts. For him sticking with it I gave him a Marlin 22 bolt action. He is quite the kid, makes me proud.

Good GRIEF, don't say "crossed over" in this context!

        Congrats to you both!

I wish I had stuck with it. I made First Class and almost had Star when I crumbled to peer pressure and persued what my "friends" thought was cool. Boy were my "friends" wrong. One of the many mistakes I made along the way.

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the few great institutions that has successfully fought off the "Politically Correctness" and Tolerance" that has, in my opinion, crippled our nation.

We'll be looking for the "My son made Eagle" post in a few years.

Absolutely, as long as he doesn't say his son crossed over!

He could say advanced, got promoted, earned, qualified for, achieved, conquered, gained ground, made headway, made the scene, marched, moved on, moved up, progressed...

Sorry about the crossed over thing. I'm not one with words and that was all I could think of at the time.

Congratulations! It was a great day for me when I did! I know how he feels! I learned a lot about life in the BSA. I hope my son is interested when he's old enough.
A government that can give you everything you need is also strong enough to take it away!

My son made scouts a few weeks back. I also had the honor to be one of his den leaders all the way through cubs. Boy Scouts is indeed one of the last great institutions in the world. Teaching kids responsibility, respect and outdoor skills. These are things that last a lifetime. Congratulations to your son for making it. And to you for guiding him through it.

Congrats! I too made the journey as a young man. My father played a big role in my troop as well. Really enjoyed those years.

wish i had the boy scouts option when i was young, i cant stress how important it is to a boy who wants to learn our sort of thing. i learn much after the fact of being a boy, yet always dreamed of it.(if only i had the chance, what could have been different) glad all of you and your boys are scouts and hope to one day father a child and teach him what ive gained. ive learned much on simple camp site manners(being friendly to others), medical knowledge and to making traps and snares, shelters and being able to fend for ones self. great program every youth should try and see "if its for them"

Definately something to be proud of! I also think the idea of the .22 is great idea.

My Grandfather bought a single shot, lever action .22 (Ithica) for each one of his Grandchildren when they turned 1. Obviously our parents hung on to them until we were old enough, but to this day it is something we still cherish as one our many memories of him.

Now you will have this wonderful memory of his accomplishment and he will always have that memory of how proud you were of him.

                            Way to go!
