.... I never meant to complain about my job or having to work for a living.
We've been conditioned to adhere to a lifestyle far removed from independent, self reliance .... its by design .... be patient, things are about to change.
I feel like I need to clarify things here a bit. I never meant to complain about my job or having to work for a living. I just didn't know how to express myself when I posted this. I have realized that our modern society is so overly complicated and lacking in true meaning or fullfilment. We have no real rites of passage into adulthood, no standardized set of morals or culture, no true test of manhood or womanhood. From what I have learned and observed those things that are over complicated and meaningless do not last the test of time. I am of the opinion that so many of us preppers and survivalsts are merely fed up with what world has become. We act out and prepare for the worst case scenario while secretly or subconscously we are hoping for it to end so we can return to a more simple and realistic existence. Bring on the fan for the S&[email protected] is ready.
I don't know, maybe I am abnormal, but I have done alot of different jobs in my life and I cannot say that I "LOVED" any one of them.
They were just a means to pay bills.
I did sound kind of whiny about my job now that I look at it. My intention was to make the point of how our society demands so much of our time with so little reward. I do enjoy the work I do as much as I can.
That is all anyone can ask or hope for in "work" lol.

I believe a lot of people probably feel the way you do about work. They may not want to go back in time 500 years but maybe 150 years ago would be good. I am willing to bet that most people that have a job they don't enjoy that much feel the way you described about work. If someone really enjoys what they do(I myself usually do) it ain't that bad, unless under paid. No matter where you work most of us will have a boss telling us what they expect and want done. That is part of life now a days. I've noticed a lot of people that feel the way you do hope a SHTF situation goes down so they can be "top dog" or something. Not saying that you are one of them.

Most of the time I feel out of place or should I say out of time. I thought at one time in my life that I was going insane or just plain lazy. I am sometimes overcome with the complications of our modern world where I am required by society to be employed at a job which I find meaningless, unsatisfying and oppressive. In order to survive and provide for our families in our modern world we must labor for the benefit of others while we reap the smallest of rewards. I have on more than one occasion been overcome with the urge to pack what I can on my back and wander into the hills never to be heard from again. As a matter of fact it would take me less than 10 minutes to be packed and out the door. I eventually come to my senses and my dedication to my family and loved ones steers back on the "correct" path and I go to work to make the almighty dollar like all the other suckers out there. I always wondered why I and so many others choose to pursue the most primitive of past times in order to unwind or enjoy ourselves. Oh how I would love to go back in time 500 years on the North American continent and try my hand at what may come! Anyone else feel this way or am I truly insane.
Well that's enough daydreaming, I need to get to bed so I can get up early and go to work tomorow.
