The Backwoodsman (Magazine)

I'm sure many of you know of this publication, however I thought I would mention it regardless because I just kinda happened upon it a while back, never hearing of it before.
It's a bi-monthly magazine that I stumbled on at one of those big chain book super stores. It publishes mostly user-submitted articles, tricks of the trade from yesteryear, primitive and modern weaponry. From guns, axes, fly tying, gold panning, tanning hides, container gardening, solar panels etc... (That's mainly just the most recent edition) It offers much much more. It's a great "Bathroom Reader" lol. I read them cover to cover and there is no BS in between. It's inexpensive and worth a read! It's my second favorite magazine of all time, second only to the giant Sears catalog that used to come in the mail when I was a wee man. hahaha

When I was a kid I would sit with the Sears and roebuck catalog and stare at all of the neat stuff for hours on end!! I haven't thought about that for many years!!! Thank you for the trip down memory lane!!

Never heard of this one but I'll be looking for it now,thanks for the info.My dad used to say that when he was a kid the Sears catalog was called "the wish book" because during the Depression all you could do was wish for things in the catalog.

Oh yeah Service Merchandise! I forgot about that one. I got my first few BB/Pellet guns from them, hahaha. Good call!

Sears Catalog,from in the house to the outhouse,and the colored pages were not as comfortable.
Good,Better and Best!By mail order. Should work in the era of the internet.In by gone days,you could buy a home kit, a Model A Ford, a tractor and implements.
The catalog was quite a learning experience.

Lol, I only read the Sears and Roebucks for the 'articles'. lol I recently stumbled upon the Backwoodsman magazine this spring and that is a awesome magazine. The issue I saw had everything from Tracking to different ways to use innertubes and boards for making fun summer floats. Even had some efficient camping tidbits that have been forgotten over the decades.

guys and gals my cub scout den is lead via the back woodsman plenty of great ideas we have built a lean to working on a wig wam they all have bobs and we are working on our marksmanship loops next week end hey by the way the youngins are only six they love it
