  • Family Man, Now and Forever!

I have this Holywood romanticised daydream of "Mad Max" and "I am Legend" in the back of my mind. When I was single I looked forward to the end times as I could run around in a dune buggy with an AR and a big sword like I was King of nowhere land.
I now have a family and I choose to work, pay bills, spend time with my family, stay out of jail and do all those things that make me a responsible citizen.
If things ever go to hell none of that will change. I will still be a family man. Instead of getting off on a feeling of power and lawlessness when I think about it, I now am filled with sadness and fear for my children. My attitude and responsibilities will not change just because the world around me does. Only the manner in which I do what I choose to do will change.

Don't we all. I have a wife, mother in law, mother in laws sister, three children and five grand children. I gave up the Mad Max dream state long ago. Now I, we, just prepared for the worst and hope for the best. We go on living. I for one respect you and what you are doing.
    As Zombie Axe would say...
"Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty."

I live in society but prepare for the problems that may arise during my lifetime, when I was younger I never thought about the future or problems that might come about. Around the time I turned 30 I saw my views in life changing and my priority switching to more of a protector and father figure since I had just married and gained two step children.

If there is ever a problem I figured I will bug in for as long as we can then when its time to move we will head to as far back into the hills as we can and try to survive our last days on earth. During this time it might be my mad max or mountain man time.

I too have had the Mad Max bug during my youthful days. Like others I have gotten older and somewhat smarter (notice I did not say wiser) and have changed into the honorable citizen, father, husband, caretaker. I agree with Nakadnu that this is what I am suppose to do from now on regardless of society changes. However, should circumstances require Mad Max ideologies to protect those in my charge, well.........
