I suspect a lot of these folks are looking for info and would like to interact but want to avoid the ridicule and confrontation that seems to be common in many of the forums .... give em time to feel things out here. We're a warm, welcoming, supportive bunch .... c'mon in.

Okay... maybe "lurker" was too strong of a word.

To all the guests scrolling through, just stop by and introduce yourself. I did not intend to scare anyone or come acorss intimidating in any fashion. As my wife oftens remind me, my sarcastic humor, is not.

I think lurker is a perfect word. I lurked for a bit but most of us are worried about getting traced by FEMA. I take it you all know about their red green and blue lists? Lurkers just need to make sure it's safe. Me, I don't care if they do find me. Better to die standing than live on your knees.

I agree with king crimson. my guess is that if you visit this site or ones like it, whether you register or not, you will make your way onto some list. I no longerworry about it since I'm pretty sure I'm already on all the lists.

Your sarcasm has bruised my EGO. Sarcasm is a great teaching tool if used properly. I just can't figure out how to get across in the written word as such. It always sounds like I am just being an ahole. And of course I am quite concerned about offending people whom I have never met and are only a fake name and goofy picture on an electronic screen.

I have noticed this alot myself. I feel more people need to join in no doubt! This whole worried about being on a list thing is ignorant. If they are making lists so what, I have nothing to hide! There is a group called the "Oath Keepers" and I bet they are on the top of any list. They are all military and leo's who have the guts to stand for what they believe in.

If this is your fear of joining in I have news for you...just lurking has already put you on a list my friends.

                            Crazy, I think not.

I have had some of my friends and aquaintances question my motives since I have joined this sight. It has been implied that "All of a sudden" i'm some anti-government, separatist, off the grid psycho survivalist. I have been accused of believing in the Mayan 2012 apocolypse, asked if I believe in Nostradamus and all this other BS that the media is pushing down our throats in the name of ratings. All the while they are concerned about the people in Japan, Haiti, Chile,Turkey etc. "How are these people going to make it?" blah blah blah! I'm not concerned about these end of the world prophesies, or asteroid hitting the earth type scenarios. Honestly if that happens we should all bend over and kiss our butts goodbye. I'm concerned about the 72 hour emergencies, I'm concerned about Katrina scenarios. I don't want to rely on Fema or any other group to bail me out. I can take care of myself, thanks anyway! Honestly I see what I'm doing as nothing more than an extesion of what is taught in the BSA program and motto. "Be Prepared" isn't just something I say when asked to, it's something that I believe in. So if I am now on someones list for participating in this forum, than so be it. If they have any questions I'll be happy to answer them. There have been a few posts that have concerned me, but you will have the fringe on any common ground website. All the iformation I have seen here is solid and informative. So, lurkers, do what you will. Learn what you will.

You need to explain that survival can mean anything

For most people it's surviving natural and personal disasters. Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, fire, flood, shortages, job loss, etc etc
WHAT IF THE AMERICA YOU KNEW, WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE?

The best thing you can do to support the site is pass it on to your friends and fav sites like other forums, facebook, twitter etc. Let people know about us! :)
