Sex for barter, post SHTF?

I am a staunch Presbyterian and believe fully in good works and helping the needy. However, with that said post-collapse it is a situation of look after your own first and foremost.

Now I would like to add a further complication to this hypothetical situation. Suppose the female that you turned down her "trade" goods left you all ticked off and told others that you had stuff and wouldn;t share( in other words GIVE to her). I would be willing to bet that soon there would be others beating at your door like the mob in Frankenstien. So to avoid all the unpleasantness do you kill her to put her out of her misery and save you further danger?? Also if you did take her up on her "trade" goods others would wonder where she got them and then when asked she would tell and they would come knocking.

So how do you do the right thing in the "new" world.? Limited resources and someone with much more than most everyone else is a real danger for the ones that prepared.

I will not pretend to have the clarity of vision needed to foretell the future but I am begining to think we are facing Neo-Serfdom where food will be tightly controled or in certain areas removed and the populace left to die of 'natural causes' like Stalin did, then latter repopulated with 'Loyal' serfs and awarded to overloards for faithful service.
Looking to the past as in Mao's China, people did eat other people, even children. Some Party Members even had feasts of human victims as a way of maintaining control over thier own underlings.
There are stories from Napolean's retreat from Russia and from Hitler's defeat there as well. There is documented evidence from south, central and north america of pre-columbian cannibalistic activities.
Hunger is a terrerible thing to endure, few americans can conceive of it. Famine is a form of torture where the body consumes itself, fat, muscle and brain all wither away to keep the main organs alive. In this state People will do anything to eat.
Bartering sex is an age old survival tactic, it beats being eaten.

THat is why I enquired as to whether someone would preemptively kill someone that came to "trade" for goods/food. Would they do this to keep the word from spreading that you had food while others did not. I believe you understood this line of reasoning fully, just as other here at XColony will.

EVERYONE must start considering what extremes that they are willing to go to in order to assure the survival of thesemselves and/or thier families. I cannot really say what I would do, I wish I could, until the situation arises. But it would be wise to consider it now HYPOTHETICALLY and be prepared SOMEWHAT, just in case it happens in REALITY.

I really and truly hope none of us ever has to experince this quandry.

In response to cbprice, I think the "preemptive kill" will have to taken on a case by case basis. You'll also have to have the ability to fight off a loosely armed crowd if need be anyway. There will be those who can be trusted to trade with and others that will merely be using the ruse of trade as a way to take your stuff. You'll just have to be sharp enough to know the difference. This is a loose quote from a section in Rawles book, "Patriots" as they give some wheat to a passing group of starving people.

"This should hold you and your group for a while on your journey. Do not come back for more as you will get none. If you come back and try to take it we will kill you all. We are better armed and better organized than you and do not tolorate looters or thieves. Go with God and good luck to you."

Seems like a pretty clear message.

Sex for Barter

This is an interesting question. First, I believe that those who currently barter sex in our society for money will continue to barter sex after the SHTF. And it is likely that those that currently do not use sex for trade will not do so in the future. Think about it, some would argue that it is much easier for a woman (let's not church it up here either we are really only talking about women, cause men will stick it any where) to lay on her back and use sex to profit than to go out and work harder earning an "honest" living. So in the future, I believe these same hard working women will continue to carve out a life for themselves in the future and won't give it up just because we are in a different environment. Although, social taboos are likely to be different so who knows.

In regard to the libertarian point of view, I am very much in line with it philosophically. So for the sex issue, philosophically I have no problem with two adults exchanges goods and services (sex for money or what ever). However, in practice this breaks down. Even our forefathers saw this and used politics and religion as ways to control society for the greater good. So legalized prostitution, legalized weed, what ever all have serious consequesces on those involved and society as a whole.

Now i am happily married. But god forbid if I didn't have my wife I would barter for sex. I am a man and we all have needs. Not to say she wouldn't be well taking care of but i would look at the circumstances of why she needed to barter. Hasn't anyone seen the Postman? sex is one of the oldest tools of trade. Don't forget about arranged marriages.That is just my op.
