  • The Hill That Scientology Made?

Now this is not a bash against Scientology. I have known a married couple that are Scientologists for 15 years or so and love them dearly. But there are many things about this relgion I find amusing and this thread is just about one of these little items.

In the Sierra Nevada foothills there is an entire hill, and the surrounding area, that is owend by the Church of Scientology. This hill is a huge bunker. But not for people. It is a bunker for the housing of WORDS.

Deep underneath the hill is a huge vault. Inside this vault are the words that Scientology values the most. The words of their founder, L. Ron Hubbard. His words have been preserved for eternity and placed within this vault.

Now they have not been preserved on disc, tape, or paper. They have been ETCHED onto thin sheets of titanium. They have taken a transcribed everything he wrote. Everything he ever said that was either recorded or written down(such as interviews).

The land and the construction of this facility to house thier founders' words is reportedly to have cost 100 MILLION dollars.

Well this is the end of my wierd news for the day.

Placing a high value on the words of L. Ron Hubbard, the gentleman who wrote "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" and then got divorced after that might show a lack of inspirational wisdom.

    Just my thoughts...

I think being rich is a prerequisite to being a scientologist, one of my grandmothers was one.

It sounds like they are making some sort of time capsul. In the city we also bury things deep in the ground to be preserved for all time, when the hole is full it is sealed and a secure covering is placed on top of it called a golf course. The golf course is located above the landfill. Ok just a little humor on a most serious topic.

Yea they have said that it is a time capsule. Well what they called it was a "preservation site" for the words of L. Ron Hubbard. They wanted his words to be preserved for future generations.

I find it to be an odd religion, but to each his own. It is not much odder than a lot of the ways the mormon church spends money.

deep down under our town sealed away at least most of the time until something breaks is the sewer and does it stink, luckily I have my own septic system so when the pipes downtown break I can truly say my sh_t doesn't stink
