i just got a 12 foot canoe and i want to make some pontoons for it .diesel if this is the wrong place ,please put it where it goes i will be willing to try to use wood metal or fiberglass just give me some ideas thx every one

Yes you do

Try foam for floaters, or if you can find some used boat fenders/bumpers they would work well. The tricky part is working the connections and mounting hardware for easy on-off application. Take a look on-line at canoe stabilizers and you get plenty of ideas. Good luck.

thx i will check it out what i have been contemplating is making wooden pontoons over laying fiberglass and having door on the top where i can use the toons for storage just pondering though

ok here is my idea take a 10 foot piece of uni strut attach to the canoe via a 2x6 center support beam at four foot then the other at four foot all thread rod in to a pice of four inch pvc with caps on the end filled with either foam or air pressure off each side whadda yall think would post pics idf i had a camera

Inflatable pontoons are light and stowable....rig a collapsible frame to clamp on your boat....
