  • I got a job.

After over a month of looking for a job, and being turned down at 2 retail places (Shopko and Target), I just about gave up.

My father works part-time for a security company, and had been talking to his supervisor about the possibility of becoming full time. I met his supervisor a couple times, joked and chatted with the guy, and he finally pressured the company to hire on another guard. He asked me to fill out an application about a week ago, and today I had my interview.

It wasn't a question and answer type, the guy just asked about my previous work experience in a very casual way. Because there is sometimes the need, I will be retrained and certified in firearms, and will have the opportunity to carry again.

This is only a part time thing, but could develop into something full time.

Thanks everyone. While I know that having a job means putting myself back into the legalities of governmental control, it will no doubt make prepping easier. I ponder one question that was brought up by my previous supervisor regarding armed security guards which is, "If civil unrest gets out of hand, I wonder if [we] will be called on for crowd control or other security measures needed by the police?"
My stand point on such an issue is unknown, because I'm not sure I'd be willing to fight against those I so strongly back. It is a good question to ponder though.

Excellent news! Sometimes you have to get into the system to survive, but it doesn't mean that you can't buck the system alittle as time goes by.

Well, worked my first 5 hours...haven't heard anything since. No word on further training, no word on more work. I don't know what they need me for, nor do I know most of the particulars of the job itself.

It seems as though there is a lack of structure with this company, but I'll remain on the payroll.
