  • Yea, I passed the tests........

So with work being what it has been (working for Direct TV, all work, no pay) I signed up to take the Charlotte/Mecklenburg police test in Charlotte the 27th.
I prepared by going to the gym and working out (30 day pass) and then went to take the test.

After the Intro the instructor tells about how there is at least a 6 month waiting period, 15,000 names in the system from the to pull from......my heart sank as the recruiter never said any of this.....and it was 100 miles each way just to take the test.

Well with that in mind I started the 160 question test, finished in 1 1/2 hrs, took the physical test and left not knowing how I did, after all I was the second oldest guy in the room at 44 yrs old.
Well I got my email I passed the following thursday, but I am still no closer to being an officer.

So now I am trying local depts. hoping to get a sponsoring for the B.L.E.T. classes at local college, all while still trying to find work since Direct TV was only paying a little over a hundred a week after vehicle expenses (WOAH!!!)

So for those of you that pray, please remember me and my family as we do need them and we are praying for direction and work myself.
My kids that are working part time are helping when the can, but my oldest is without work too.
While I have a lot of experience as a carpenter, it is Very cutthroat right now, only pay half of what I used to make since people think they can take advantage of current economy to get carpentry done dirt cheap.

Anyone with helping advise please let me know as I open to options on Police work or Construction, as I have traveled to work, it is just hard on my wife when you have 7 Kids at home full time.

Will pray that things go well for you and your family Cowboy. Sounds like you still have a chance at it; too bad about the time delay. And congrats on passing!

Border Patrol is hiring! I don't think their pay is grand, but it's probably steady work! Around here, they even ride horses!

I would love Border Patrol, but I am at an age where it seems some agencies can descriminate, even tho they are federal agencies.
I am going to Coll. in Sept for B.L.E.T here in NC, so hopefully when I get out in the spring, or even before, I can get a job in L.E., or even Correction officer.

Thanks, but because we home school we have to avoid some states, and our Southern friend is one of them, but thank you.
I appreciate you looking out for me by letting me know about the jobs.
