Agree with you both Skyowl and Visine. Found myself thinking 'yea right' quite a few times. It's Hollywood all the way. I'll continue to watch to learn what I can (mostly what not to do) but I was disappointed. Guess I had higher expectations.

watched the show last night like many of us hoping to pick up any tidbits of info that would be of value . I however doubt that the producers could really convince these people that the end of our civilization has happened so real responses can not be portrayed At one point the narrator said the intruders were instructed not to hurt the people . Any comments or am I just an old cinic.

To me it seemed that most of the people made decisions on emotions rather than logic, such as when they let the four people into their warehouse before they really checked them out. Now I'm not saying that I am not emotional, but by God I hope I use my brain before I use my heart to help protect the ones I love!

Rednek, I can understand the concept of the Sanctuary spray painted on the side of the building, mainly because if you notice at the beginning of the show as they are wandering around inside, they make the comment of "Someone's been living here".
Plus, there are actually places like that in almost every town. Walk down to the railroad tracks in any town in the middle of the day, and you'll find busy warehouses and industrial buildings filled with all sorts of handy items.
littleone, I agree with you on the point of allowing the newcomers to enter the building. If this were a real survival and rebuild situation, I would not be so quick to trust anyone, even those in my immediate group.
Personal point, based on my knowledge of AC inverters, the amount of power being pulled from their battery bank from the inverters is extremely inefficient in lighting flourescent tubes. While I wont get into the specifics, flourescent tubes operate on high voltage with very little wattage by use of a ballast. By pulling power from the batteries to the inverter, then to the ballast, they will use up their electricity much faster than if they were to rewire the ballast to operate on 12v/30amps instead."Reject the basic assumptions of civilization, especially the importance of material possessions." Observations
I have noticed that this group does not appear to have a chain of command. There are no leaders, good intentions but no structure or common goals. It is as if they just meet each other and don’t know what the man next to them is thinking before they speak. Also, they were deprived sleep for thirty hours before insertion. I liked this technique because it shows that tired stupid people still are capable of making great decisions. And what about letting the four people in banging at the door but not the "one". Why have they not reconned the neighborhood and meet the neighbors? Just a few observations

Apparently the rule is if you come during the day, "come on in." :) Should you show up during the spooky hours of the dreaded night you get a crazy guy chasing you with a pipe.
Obviously "Rancher" is not running this op.:DWell, for me, the action is the juice.....I'm in.

On a side note, did anyone notice that when the old guy was outside taking his "shower" that there was a planted garden there? It was visible in the lower right corner of the scene. Where did that come from?As Zombie Axe would say...

I am septical as well. The plans that I have (as well as many others of you) for the wood gassifire seem a little more complicated than a jerry can in a trash barrel. Perhaps the plan was to give the idea, but not the details. In addition, the gas travels by a gravity / preassure method, feeding 150 feet into the small engine? Smoke will burn at 400F, I have a ceramic catalytic combuster in my wood stove. The science is amazing, but I am with you Diesel."And with a collection of minds and talent, they survived"
