While taking a look at our current economic situation, and the increasing number of people becoming unemployed throughout the nation, I decided to check my own locality. You can see yours HERE.
As of July of 2008, the population of Washington State was at 6,549,224. Recent figure, via the above link, shows the unemployment rate of 9.2%.
Looking at THIS MAP of the counties in Washington state, and checking the population of the following counties (via Google population data July of '08), the number of people unemployed (602,528) in Washington state is just shy of the population of roughly half the state:
Chelan co: 71,540
Douglas co: 36,653
Grant co: 84,697
Kittitas co: 38,951
Okanogan co: 40,033
Ferry co: 7,353
Lincoln co: 10,344
Adams co: 17,285
