  • The unemployed...

This doesn't really fit into the media section, so I'm posting it here.

While taking a look at our current economic situation, and the increasing number of people becoming unemployed throughout the nation, I decided to check my own locality. You can see yours HERE.

As of July of 2008, the population of Washington State was at 6,549,224. Recent figure, via the above link, shows the unemployment rate of 9.2%.

Looking at THIS MAP of the counties in Washington state, and checking the population of the following counties (via Google population data July of '08), the number of people unemployed (602,528) in Washington state is just shy of the population of roughly half the state:

    Chelan co: 71,540
    Douglas co: 36,653
    Grant co: 84,697
    Kittitas co: 38,951
    Okanogan co: 40,033
    Ferry co: 7,353
    Lincoln co: 10,344
    Adams co: 17,285
    Franklin co: 72,783
    Benton co: 163,058
    Walla Walla: 57,788
    Garfield co: 2,060

many in the alternative media are speculating that the unemployment rate is indeed double the "official" number

True, Brosia...there are a lot of people not included in those figures. Plus, the don't count military people who have recently left the service. The theory was that the government didn't want to scare the masses with employment truth.

Plus the unemployment numbers don't show the people who lost good paying full time jobs and are now working crapy part time jobs just to make ends meet and to stay off welfare. In the governments eyes if you are working part time you are still working.

I just joined the masses today. I got Laid-off this morning myself. I knew it was coming I just didn't know when. They are cutting my position so I'm out. Back to hitting the bricks again.
I figure I was looking for a job when I found this one. God will provide, he always does!
Your opponet got stronger today, did you?
