BANGKOK – David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" whose career roared back to life when he played the assassin-turned-victim in Quentin Tarentino's "Kill Bill," was found dead Thursday in Thailand. A published report said he committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.

that SUX!...... God receive him. I loved him in the Long Riders. Ry Cooder did the soundtrack for that movie and he is one of my favorites. I grew up with the Grasshopper, many hours playing outside with my blanket bedroll. Sad day

I hope so too PF. I grew up with him too. He was a hero in my books. I really liked him. What a shame.

All the good guys when we were growing up are dying. It's so sad. My 8 yr old loves all the shows we used to watch. We only let him watch TV Land. I could not take another minute of him watching all the crap they have on for children now. Now his heros are the brothers on Bonanza and Festus on Gunsmoke instead of Spongebob.

While I think he was an excelent actor and potrayed some good role models I never connected with him, but I will acknowladge that he started the Kung-Fu craze in the 1970's.
His father did an excelent TV commercial in the 1960's for a Calif bank telling how, as a young man, he won Acadimy Awards, spent his movie fortune on custom built cars, luxery homes and expensive clothing instead of investing the money in a bank,,,,which was why, as a old man, he was making a TV commercial for a bankl! It was a great commercial, very believable and won some awards. I was quite young but I absorbed that message deep into my bones. Perhaps he lit a candle in me.
Despite that, Audie Murphy will always be my 'Hollywood' role model.
