I've been worried about our 3 unemployed Colonists (that we know of). This has some good info on jobs and job listing sites.

Good luck, guys, we are all rooting for you!

If anyone is interested in living here in lovely Vermont and working in federal law enforcement, now is the time to get your foot in the door in a sworn civilian support role. The low number of applicants can't keep up with the demand (only 103 applicants for a recent announcement with 150 vacancies...and an expected additional 200-300 within the next six months to a year), and the money and benefits are out of this world for what the job entails (sitting at a computer and running background checks). Heck, the latest batches of support personnel are actually getting FLETC training [INA 287 (g)] and powers of arrest out of it, however only time will tell where that is going...

I work alongside these support personnel and am intimately familiar with what they do and what the future of the job is. Evidently the job is one heck of an opportunity because I see people moving from as far away as Alaska, San Diego, and anywhere else you care to name-- yes, just to work as a civilian and get their feet in the door. The facility is the only one of its kind in the world and thus these opportunites do not exist elsewhere.

Anyone who wants more info can send me a PM with your email address and I will get back to you.

Hope it helps someone. But here in Wyoming the Department of Corrections is begging for people to work for them. All over the state, plus we are putting new prison of some sort in a little town called Torrington. They claim they are going to need 100 to 200 people for it. Might check it out with them, as how the wheels of government turn so slow, right?

                Border Patrol is also hiring.

Add one more, I was laid off last week. Looks like we are moving closer to family,Chicago area bound. Unfortunatly this probaby means I will have to thin down the collection a bit. I guess I'll have to see.

I have not worked for the Border Patrol, but I have several friends who do, including the local Sector supervisor. My advice (my opinion...based on what I've heard and observed) to anyone considering the USBP would be to steer clear, in a few years their lax standards are going to come back and bite them in the butt, and a lot of good personnel will suffer...
