Originally posted by Skyowl View PostBeen waiting for almost a month for this event. Already have my tickets and will be there bright and early to get to the front of the line.
We got there at 0710 this morning. The parking was easy and I went to the front of the line to get in as I had purchased tickets online. Got told we had to get in line with about 75 other people and exchange then for regular tickets at the ticket booth. Bummer. :( Got to the front of that line and the lady says "no, you just get in line to get thru the gate". Thanks a lot lady. Then the ladies come around and swap your tickets for arms bands. No, they are not taking the online tickets. :( Wait, another lady comes up and says yes they are. :) What a goat rope event this is turning out to be...
Get inside when the gates open. Hurry to the ammo wholesaler and get told to go to a different venue to purchase rifle stuff. :( Go to the other venue, in a different building, they are now 4 deep at the tables. Wait about 35-40 minutes but get my ammo...:)
300 rds of Winchester 40S&W 180gr JHP at 27.95 a box of 50 (Shock, if you can find the Remington at Walmart it is cheaper) .
300 rds of Winchester 45ACP 230gr JHP at 29.95 a box of 50 (previously is was 18.95 box) This was a shock as Magtech at my gun shop at home is 25.00 a box of 50.
200 rds Remington 30-06 CoreLoK 150gr PSP for 18.79 box (about the same as Walmart if you can find it).
1000 rds of Federal 223 55gr FMJ at 429.50 per 1000. (They were out of the PMC Bronze)
20mm ammo cans for 20.00 each, 50cal ammo cans at 10.00 each.
There was one ammo vendor selling primers and powder. Almost had people fighting over whether or not there is a line. After about 1/2 hour they are out of primers. Unfortunately, that same line is for powder and it is 150 people long at least. I don't see any of my powder on the shelf. Guess I'm not buying powder today.
Now we leave after approx 2.5 hours inside the gun show. Outside the line to buy tickets is about 100 - 150 yards long and to get in is about 100 yds long. Inside there are already about 3000 people and a significant number of them are purchasing ammo.
I second the vote for Pres O being the best gun and ammo salesman of the year.As Zombie Axe would say...

The gunshow was a zoo! I've never seen such a crowd at one of these. People were complaining that they waited in line for a half an hour to just PARK. Very glad the Owl made me get up at the ungodly weekend hour of 0530 so we could get there early.
Heard ONE name on many lips, it was a somewhat angry crowd.
MountainHome had a display there, they are right proud of their stuff, aren't they! They had samples to taste, but after looking at the price list, I don't care how good it tastes, I'll be canning my own.
JoAnn's has a supercenter on the Western end of town, so we visit there when here. I've been stocking up on quilting supplies, figure we may be able to sell them (or need them ourselves) someday. That's why the bolts of bleached and unbleached muslin.
Since we are in Phoenix, we of course, had to visit Cabela's! That's like a moral imperative when up here. I was worn out by then and the Owl only wanted powder, so I napped and read in the truck while he went in to restock on testosterone. He didn't find his powder, but got some cleaning supplies.
Now going to go grab some dinner."If Howdy Doody runs against him, I'm voting for the puppet." - SkyOwl's Wife, 2012
