Everytime I am in an elevator now I try to mess with people to get them to turn around like in the video....even better when I am with a buddy who is in on the joke. Yeah I am a bad man, SHAME!

I believe this is what Dr. Robert Cialdini and his popularizer Dr. David J. Lieberman would refer to as: The Law of Social Proof. People tend to be attracted to that which attracts other people and they tend to be repelled by that which repels other people. This is why small brick-and-mortar businesses tend to locate towards bigger stores, known in the retail industry as anchor stores.

Also, these videos embody another principle that Cialdini and Lieberman have pointed out: People in motion are much more subject to suggestion. This explains why con-artists and armed robbers are attracted to busy convenience stores, where manic, harried employees with a full plate of tasks are easily distracted.

There are, of course, other examples, and studying these principles of social psychology and using them can prove to be a great advantage for survival, especially in tightly-congregated cities.

No this is just a joke, I don't really think people are sheep. Watching this video does make you wonder though.
