When you have a problem at work or wherever, same as most people, you start with your past experience. The US has an excellent record of success in Kuwait and Iraq dismantling Iraq's military and very quickly. So, basing today's model on yesterday's results was not that bad of an idea.
IMO, where they goofed was after Iraq's military was nullified; they didn't look at Russia's history in Afghanistan.

Have you read Colonel Jean Baptiste Estienne's "Victory in this war will belong to the belligerent who is the first to put a cannon on a vehicle capable of moving on all kinds of terrain"

Hiram Percy Maxim invented the Maxim machine gun. Here's another of his achievements.
"By 1914, there were thousands of Amateur Radio operators--hams--in the United States. Hiram Percy Maxim, a leading Hartford, Connecticut, inventor and industrialist saw the need for an organization to band together this fledgling group of radio experimenters. In May 1914 he founded the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) to meet that need."
His call sign was W1AW which the ARRL still uses today.
He also invented the silencer for firearms.

My I wish rifle, for all around use is a AR CHASSIS in the 6.5 Grendel. Short combat ranges, to reach out and touch some one it does it all. TBH I haven't tried the 6.8 thats coming out though, in an AR style chassis. The SMLEs M14 FNFAL are all effective , but heavy as is ammo. With a large capacity mag, its hard to be low profile. The SMLE being bolt is slow (comparatively speaking) for the follow though and re-engagement. Yes I know it's fast for a bolt action......
The I wish rifle would of been great in Afg, as we had C7 C8 both 5.56 C15 .50 BMG rifles and the C9 5.56 C6 MG 7.62x51. Just to get better reach without requiring a MG or the elephant gun.

The 6.8 caliber appears to be a sweet spot. I've read a few times, that it is almost as accurate as the various 6.5s and its terminal ballistics are almost as vicious as the 7mm.

"Old Smiley" has a lot of virtues.

As the US Army has selected the 6.8 x 51 TVC composite case as their new service rifle. The claim was as body armor raised the bar. As it will defeat Russia's modern body armor, the 135 gr at 3000 FPS was their answer.
That's a whole new platform. "Supposedly," it is only 2 pounds heavier than the current M4 and the composite case ammo is lighter than brass.

It's almost as if they necked down the 7.62x51 and married it to a composite case. I believe it is based on the .277 Fury which is a .308 necked down to .277.

I ran across this 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel comparison.
Here's what you need to know about the pros and cons of the 6.8 SPC vs 6.5 Grendel cartridges so you can make an informed decision. The better choice is

It's a good article except this: ""When fired from a 16″ barrel, the 6.5 Grendel also has almost exactly the same trajectory as the 6.8 SPC."

Been thinking about this drone business..]

Anyone know how many passes these jets made over these drones????

          Curious about this.

Anyone heard also that their transponders were turned off on the drone ???

          Again..curious about this too.

Anyone heard anything about an exclusionary zone working there at that location as well???
