    Yup Tugaloo...

I too do not use that coated stuff. I prefer Cast Iron and often Stainless Steel...I verily like that olde Revere copper bottomed stainless steel. But no matter what you are using...you need to be aware of the heat usage and how different metals are affected by heat when cooking.

Oh...and I don't remember...if I posted this about those cooking U Tube videos. Something else I learned on there about cookware.

You are going to pay some serious monies for really good cookware. But then again.......I've paid good monies for serious tools....for my cars and truck and also for reloading...

And the tools can often make a job/task much easier....more efficient.

I have (inherited) my mother's D5 All-Clad, it's tri-ply stainless steel. Mom bought it decades ago. No way would I pay today's price that is over $1K. However, All-Clad has a heck of a sale on their D3. If you're interested, now is the time.

We both cook and except for a few things I cook better; she rules.

She prefers searing a steak in top of the stove; then finishing it in the oven with cast iron.. She does fried chicken in a similar fashion; crisp the coating; then into the oven to cook it.

      Yes, quality is always expensive.

        Tugaloo...

I think a man should know how to cook for himself....and not be dependent on a woman for these things...nor should a man be high maintenance sufficient that he cannot live outside the " Fast Food Lane" as I like to call it.

Oh...dont get me wrong here..I love it when a woman puts her heart into her cooking ...in what I call "Spoiling me"...I verily do. And I let her know I appreciate it....spoiling me.
And I am grateful to my mother for the basics in cooking...also sewing...and ironing...washing my own clothes....even making my own bed..as a youngster.

I was stunned to find out in Air Force Basic Training the number of young men who had none of these skills. I saw young men crying because they could not cut it. And Air Force basic training is much easier than the other branches .Making their bed/rack with hospital corners was a huge obstacle for some of them. I kid you not....crying...

Tugaloo...I wonder if you notice some of the things I am noticing today..with young men....if that is what you want to call them.

Some of them ...to me....seem to be higher maintenance than the women.

        Are you noticing similar???

What kind of woman wants a man who is higher maintenance than her and children???

I reckon I am out of step with the times. I still remove my hat/cover indoors and also hold the doors for the ladies.

I looked up that D5 cookware.....it is very nice...and your right ...about it being pricey....but that is what one pays for good cookware.

I recently purchased this pan.....as I wanted a stainless...with higher walls...similar to my 3 inch high wall cast iron fry pans.

I wound up purchasing this item here..

Amazon.com: Made In Cookware - 3 Quart Saucier Pan - Stainless Clad 5 Ply Construction - Induction Compatible - Made in Italy - Professional Cookware: Home & Kitchen

Also this Staub...doulble boiler....this was a wake up call to me but again ...that is what one pays for quality as you aptly stated...should last me the rest of my days

Amazon.com: Staub Cast Iron 4-qt Round Cocotte - Graphite Grey, Made in France: Dutch Ovens: Home & Kitchen

Wow!!! This item came down in price since I purchased mine.

I've never used a double boiler but my lady friend has and I will be learning a new skill..in addition to being "spoiled."

Did I tell you that I really ....really ...really..... like my Lazy Boy Recliner??

But I cannot stay in it forever...though it is appealing.
They put the correct name on that recliner.

The Italian made 3 quart sauce pan looks well made!!
I've found Cuisinart cookware to be well made and very inexpensive for its quality.

That is based on a sample size of the one I own.

Today's young men are very different than what I remember.

Agreed, neither men or women want the high maintenance types and I can see why.

As my mother's All-Clad cookware is roughly 70 years old and is still in excellent condition; I see it being passed on to the next generation and more. Cast iron can easily match that.

The economy is close to being stagnant while else would manufacturers lower their prices so significantly. Too many live in a throw away and buy new world. Now, why would anyone want to buy the same item twice or more in their life?

Another highly useful kitchen tool is the Instant Pot. IMO, it has safely replaced the old pressure cookers. We have an older model and the speed and quality of what it does is close to unbelievable.
As the original cabin's kitchen is small; I bought an range that offers convection, conventional, air fry and more. One must go through a learning curve as even its burners have a higher wattage than many other ranges.

I didn't mean to imply I can't cook because I can. The difference is after decades of cooking her skill with spices is greater than mine. OTOH, I can be surprising at times as I introduced her to fennel pollen. I "complained" to a friend about the lack of fennel or anise in store bought Italian sausage. The answer was fennel powder will cure that and it does.

Lazy Boy recliners? The new ones are made off shore. Their former employees in NC banded together and continued making what they did for decades. I have one and it is high quality with a longer warranty.
Big corporations expect large profits to pay for all the overhead. Here, there is a local one owner grocery store and they consistently beat the price of the large chains significantly.
