TACTICAL IS AS TACTICAL DOES: FINDING A TACTICAL DEFINITION

Or as Forest Gump would answer the question: what is tactical?
    Tactical is as tactical does...

This is humor and not serious!!

Tactical is so over used these days. In simplest terms, strategy is setting the goals, tactics are how you accomplish them. Somewhere tactical became the hotness for cool factor.

In the context of this site, at the high level, the strategy is to survive, the tactical is how are we going to do it.

            It was meant as humor.

"By definition, Tactical definition is - of or relating to combat tactics."
            https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tactical

"Survival definition, the act or fact of surviving, especially under adverse or unusual circumstances."
            https://www.dictionary.com/browse/survival

When I was too young to have a driver's license and hunted with a junior license. A couple friends and I would camp in the woods. We had our .22 rifles, sheath knives and matches. As we knew where water was to fill our canteens.
We knew enough to remove the scent glands (back, armpits, and tail) from ground hogs.

IMHO, survival would be just that surviving or eating, staying hydrated, hygiene, avoiding/evading contact and conserving valuable assets etc.

I figured you were having some fun...but I did want to bring us around to we aren't going to be waging war, is SHTF, but trying to survive, thrive, and avoid trouble if possible, end the trouble if it isn't. (at least that's my goals)

Definitely having some fun and Forrest Gump is one of my favorite characters.

Ammunition will be too valuable to wage war or even a short term exchange.

Everyone who considers a SHTF event has to consider if they will shelter in place or head to the forest, desert, or wherever; Every possible choice has its advantages and disadvantages.

Thriving or is it existing? We want to thrive, not exist.

Sleeping in the local forests here without Deet would be quite an unforgettable experience. Trust me, I know and I don't sleep there, LOL! Hygiene is another and very serious issue to be dealt with.

I'm not being a pessimist, but a realist.
