what are your feelings about the US intervening in the current Mexican drug war? I'm not talking about funding & advisors but more along the lines of direct military aid, troops, & so forth.

I'm all in favor of our military getting involved in the Mexican drug war as long as they stop at our borders! Use the military to really secure our borders! and then let the Mexicans fight it out amongst them self's! I say if they cross 1/4 of an inch over our borders then let the military blow them off the face of the earth! Of course that is just my opinion!

You know what? And you just made me think of it. We get a military force on the border and perhaps it could be the excuse we need to create a strong hold there. Once built, then it could be turned over to the border guard force. A true wall and fence could be created. I would not want to break the rule, Military not being police. But hell they are on the payroll let them create the ditch or whatever it takes. I would not be that bad a duty. I think? Just a thought.

I think our military needs to be utilized more in the US anyway. I assisted in building schools and hospitals on foreign soil a number of times and it always made me crazy to think of some of the crappy conditions on our home soil and we were paying to build overseas. If nothing else it is good training and keeps the men and women in shape doing good for this country in the process.

Most of the military have had so many rotations in the sand box that they are exhausted. Saying "they are on the payroll let them create the ditch or whatever" is kind of over the top.

Lets not forget that this could be a "wag the dog" scenario. It could be the excuse that either Mexico or the US needs to get the US involved in another conflict. Which could be used for a completely different agenda. It could also be a set up for a false flag operation. Just want us to keep our eyes wide open

There's always a battle somewhere that our country feels compelled to solve. It has always fallen on the shoulders of the great United States of America. Every country in the world has looked to the US for support, financial aid, and protection for generations. How about getting everyone else to help us for once?

How about getting the UN to come to our country to help us out? Oh, yeah, I forgot, they don't care about us. Nobody cares about the person who saved their lives after the problem is gone. They point and laugh at the defeated enemy, but give no thanks to the force that stopped it.

Perhaps we should stop fighting everyone else's battles for once, and bring our troops back home to protect OUR country. Let the others fight their own battles, and see just how important it is to have us on their side.

I am sensitive to that as well Skyowl's Wife. Bad words on my part perhaps. It was just a figure of speach. When ever I complained about crappy duty the leaders in charge would shout "your on the payroll, shut up and get busy".. But I do imagine there are many in the sandbox that would switch places to our borders in a New York second. I am very fortunate, I never had to go war. PF

I find it amusing that, with the exception of 2 posters, all respondents to this thread don't live anywhere NEAR the mexican border.

Amusing how? I'm an American and a veteran to boot. I live in NC, it's my border. If it happens there it affects here at one time or another in some way, shape, or form. Which means it affects me.
