German Shorthaired Pointers might be a breed to check out. They are definitely hunting dogs, and the short hair might not bother your allergies as much.

Their coat is hypoalergenic, and they never shed. Because of this they require some maintenance; like plucking their ear hair but they are bred to be tough and take it.
We got one last September and I have to say I was really surprised, they are very intellegent with high problem solving, and situational awareness, easy to train, eager to serve/protect, friendly sociable, a great pack oriented member of the family and are tough as nails. They are used reguarly as police, & military dogs in Europe, and are recognized as a breed to compete in Schutzhund competitions
wow really? that sounds like what I am looking for... I will check them out... dont worry I dont like mini fru-fru dogs... yuck... Dobermans are my favorite I had one as a child that I loved and havent had a dog since... but I dont know how they would do with my skin
thank you very kindly!

Dog questions...
ok so I think having a dog is a wise idea, plus my husband wants to pheasant hunt now. So I'd like to get a dog.... but here's my issue... I'm allergic. Not like asthma and death allergic, but I get hives, and with labs I get really bad hives.
Labs are good dogs, but they chew a lot. And they make me all puffy and red! GS seem popular here.
What kind of dogs have good qualities? I need ones that can handle toddlers, babies, and my rats, and one that won't make me look like a bee sting victim. Anyone know of ones that can be less irritating to skin? I just want feed back on dogs.... Oh and no slobbering pooches I am a girly girl I cannot handle slobber!
What about a bulldog? We were marines so they mean a lot to us and we would like one.
Feedback please and thank you :)Tags: None
