  • Calm before the storm.

I strongly urge everyone here to make preparations above and beyond what you have already done, and prepare for the coming of the storm. Just my opinion.

In these current times of struggle through economic failures, government infusions of billions of dollars to corporations, and the promise of "Change", it is my view that we can expect uprisings in our communities from the people who expect change immediately.

Millions of people will be glad to see GW out of office, and happily invite The big O in, expecting instant changes which will not happen overnight. As weeks press on, turning to months, more and more people will become depressed about a change that is not taking place quick enough, and will then begin to fend for themselves. Laws will be enacted to restrict the people of their liberties even more than they are already, and most will not see it as a good thing. I believe we are headed for an uprising of the American people who are consistantly losing their hope.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and I'm just paranoid. Just my .02

Im afraid that I agree. I think it's good that so many people apparently have confidence in him, but that could easily turn against him, and this country, if things don't happen fast enough....and I personally don't think it's possible for any "fixes" to work fast enough.
Just watch the events today! He's being placed far too high on a pedistal, and I fear that it'll be so high, and so top heavy, that when it falls...the whole world will feel it shake the ground.

As the millions of people who have decended on Washington to be a part of ''history'' in the making we can already see the masses who are against ''us''.People who think ''change'' is the answer. CHANGE has come, not with a new president but in hearts and minds of millions.CHANGE is evident in all that goes on around us.Everything changes and so has(most) everyone. If its not on TV its not so.If you can't idolize someone you are nothing.Millions are the ''in'' crowd ,everyone else is an outsider.
          I say again,too many queers,too much scandal,not enough answers.TV is the enemy.
No news is good news? What about the war? which one? It seems America has forgotten about the sacrafices of our own to publicise a war in another country .I need not say where because if you have seen ANY news lately ,you will know.
I, personally would like to see some ''CHANGE''. A change in the perspective of the masses.A change back to the way it was when people thought for themselves. When people did what was right for themselves, not as they were told. Not as the ''media'' had deemed ''cool''.Who would give a damn about a ''celebrity'' if you didn't have to watch it everytime you turned on the idiot box.For crying out loud folks, they can't even get the weather right.
If you have made it this far then I'm sure we may see eye to eye, though I don't expect there will be more than a handful.I am a hater. One pissed off SOB.And NO, it's not because your'e black.
My guns are always loaded and within the reach of my children who know how to aim!!I am their commander in cheif, yet they idolize no one.

I was listening to CNN radio news yesterday and the announcer was blabing about the two Border Patrol officers Campos/Ramon's pardon. The announcer said that "Compos and Ramon were convicted of shooting an unarmed illeagle alien"! I just about had a cow!
An hour latter during a re-broadcast the same announcer changed the story lline to 'unarmed drug smuggler', well he got it half right.

The funny thing is the only thing that is constant is 'change'...

Didn't take a rocket scientist to know we were gonna get CHANGE

VD you are right on :) Like the NWS says when a hurricane is headed toward shore, "Preparations to protect life and property should be RUSHED to completion!" Yeah... it is like that:(

You are right visinedrops. Things are going to get a lot worse.

We live in a rural area and are somewhat isolated. I belive that as unemployment grows beyond the govt.'s ability to feed the masses there will start to be a breakdown in law and order in the cities. As this spreads beyond the cities you will see that those of us in the country that are able to feed ourselves will have to be prepared to defend our homes and families.

This will be gradual until the cross over point is reached. You will see food riots, where people cannot buy food. Then you will see martial law imposed. First in the large cities then over more areas. Then all bets are off.

What will the national guardsmen do when asked to suppress their friends, neighbors and families? We could see widespread anarchy. Will we then see UN troops in our country?

I am upping my level of our ability to defend our land. We know several like minded families and are talking about the necessity of banding together for mutual self defense.

People say that could never happen here. I hope it dosen't. However I would much rather be prepared and not need it than to be caught unprepared. I will consider it money well spent either way. Besides money will become usless if this happens.
You can't get here from there. ;)

                        be prepared

I have to agree that things look worse than ever and being prepared seems the only prudent thing.

A few people i have discussed this with asked me, what if you never need the things you do/buy to be prepared. I think the best answer for me, is that I hope I don't need life insurance either, but I buy it to protect my family in the event of the unexpected. I don't consider it money wasted in any case.

I have fortified my home, not a waste even if nobody tries to break in.
I have bought more canned goods, rice, and pasta that we normally eat, and we are rotating it, it will not be wasted.
I did increase my supply of guns and ammo, but heck I will shoot it and enjoy it either way.
Only a few things I have purchased are really only good if there is a shtf scenario.

But since that scenario seems more likely all the time, I consider the peace of mind it gives money well spent (like the life insurance).

Folks, one hopeful note is that Obama has gone back on a lot of his positions even before the Enauguration. Moreover, it's not as likely that he's going to get Socialized Medicine in place with all of these business and institutional bail-outs happening at trillions of Dollars a pop. The big thing to look out for with the bailouts will be higher taxes and/or a weakening of the Dollar.

For all we know, Obama might just be a mediocre President. Still, I am hopefully about as prepared for most things as a city boy can be until I can get out into the country. For me, preparedness is business as usual, with changes here and there as needed.

Well, folks, I just scored another source in my grocery trap-line, and this source has a much greater selection than my other scratch-and-dent grocery stores. It still has a ton of cranberry sauce for $.60 a can, candied yams for $.50 a can or $1.50 for a big can, pumpkin pie filling, canned and packaged gravy mixes, a few canned hams, and lashings of canned egg nog.

I also discovered that one of the local Wal-Marts still has Christmas items for 75 to 90 percent off, including greeting cards with Ralphie, Randy, Flick, Schwartz, and the whole gang from A Christmas Story

I'm jumping on them. Whatever else Obama does these next 4 to 8 years, the jerk ain't ruining my Thanksgivings and Christmases.
