  • Looking for LAND for OFF GRID HOMESTEAD

    Hey everyone,

Wife and I are looking for some off the beaten path land for sale to start our off grid homesteading dream. We are interested in western NC or Eastern Tenn area. I want to be clear on what our goals and objectives are. We would like to locate at least an acre on a creek or river with the potential to add acreage around the initial purchase as the years go by to eventually have at least 10 total within a 4-8 year span. Our plan is to build a cabin on the property that will use fallen trees on the property first and then to cut the least amount to finish construction. It will be a small cabin that will run completely off grid. Our goal is to become totally self reliant within the next 4-5 years.

I know this is probably a long shot but I'm reaching out to see if there are current land owners that have huge acreage for sale that would be willing to break out a small parcel of that land and understands what we are trying to achieve.

Please comment or inbox me and I will go into more detail. Look forward to hearing from anyone.

you can goggle for reality businesses that work with preppers. Also you should check out Carbelas web site they have an area with properties for sale some are way out there in where and how much you would pay for it.

I don't have a huge land parcel to sell. I do, however have land and a home in Eastern Tennessee. I can tell you that the areas you are looking at are great for our lifestyles. Eastern TN has natural land barriers in place to stunt the flow of people from entering. The area offers abundant wildlife and the water sources are some of the best in the nation.

I have a few friends that might be willing to sell. It's probably a long shot though. They LOVE the buffer of acreage and the out of the wayness.

I'll get back to you! :)

Buggyout...I really appreciate your response. We currently live in Mayberry...home of Andy Griffith himself. We go to Gatlinburg area about twice a year and we are going the 19th of this month for 5 days. I would love to find something in the general area between there and the NC / Tenn line. We are a quiet family and wouldn't infringe on anybody's personal space. Looking to just be tucked away in the back country working on the homestead. Wife and I have made a decision to forego any unneeded expenses to focus strictly on obtaining at least an acre with a flowing stream. I believe this is truly the only way to live...we both were born in the wrong generation.

I look forward to keeping in touch with you.

Halfway between Gatlinburg and NC is where my property is! :)

The flowing stream might be a problem, typically property like that is more sought out for vacation cabins. You can get a really good deal on land, out of the way and undeveloped still. My buddy hasn't gotten back to me, I'll post here when he does.
