I make baby blankets, these are crib size and I am thinking of making up a bunch of them to use for barter items. does anyone think this would make for a good barter item? there is nothing fancy about them, just wash and use in crib or on floor to lay the baby on. I have made several of them and people love them that I have given them to.

Not sure. I guess it depends on how things go down, but I think folks will be struggling for food and such, and will just reuse what they have on some things.
But, you can sew.... you may barter repairing/ making clothes??? (And I could be wrong about the other.)

I think blankets of any kind may be valuable if things go bad for an extended period of time. I would think if you can make baby blankets you could use those skills in making other valuable things.
You might try making one or two that are full sized, and see how that goes. You can always put a baby in an adult blanket, but you can't put an adult in a baby blanket. Nonetheless, it is a very valuable skill, and yes, I think they would be good barter items.
The Indians seemed to always want them, and they were surviving off the land. Many, many uses.

No I never learned to crochet and knit but they would be a great thing to be able to do. All my sewing is by machine.

You should also check with your local hospital and see if they would like some. My wife knits baby beanies for newborns for both our local hospitals. She doesn't get paid for them, she does it to give back to the community. The only thing she gets out of it besides satisfaction is a free turkey each thanksgiving from both hospitals. She then donates the turkeys to the local VA hospital.
Keep making 'em Applejack. Post SHTF people will continue to have babies and they will need baby quilts, but I would expand to twin and full sized ones too. I only have 9 crib sized quilts but 8 queen and 20 full sized ones. If I die before SHTF my kids and their families will be well prepped in that area!
Oh, and a 45 in hemmed square of any soft fabric makes a great swaddling cloth for new borns!
Your crafty like my wife. She is always up to something. Blankets, hats and what ever else she can think of. Hear are just a couple hats. The deer Im saving so when the SHTF Im giving it to the mother in law to where while she goes out in the woods. the bear is cute when you put it on it looks like its eatin your head.
